Regarding the wrinkling...... if it makes any difference, I have a nos board from Best that came out of the bag with wrinkling.

I bought mine because I needed something to hold my house down during the next hurricane.

Myself as well.

Some of the odd button configuration always made me wonder if the game programmers were anticipating a second generation controller.

Looking to buy a decent atari 5200 carrying case. I don't care about a box or the extras. Willing to pay around $100 via paypal.

Bought a 5200. dressed from this seller. Exactly as described, promptly shipped including tracking number, and seller followed up. I'm a happy buyer for a change.

Ok, is it a sears arcade 2, or a 5200? They're different critters. I want to buy a 5200 if that's what it is. Best has the adapter to put 2600 carts in a two port 5200 for 45 bucks boxed. Fleabay prices are generally in the 35-40 range unboxed (folks don't know you can still get them new old stock for the same price.)

I'm a cash player in this guys...

I'm looking to buy a 4 port 5200 console in the matt black , not the shiny black finish. I don't need games nor power supplies or rf convertors, and I don't care if it works, but want a complete console, and with a nice case that has all the trim and no cracks. I also want some controllers that are visually nice, but are rebuildable. I 've got some mods I want to do on the console, including a/v and power, and will rebuild completely the controllers whether they work or not. I don't want or need boxes, nor games (maybe one for test purposes), and am more concerned about physical condition, and any aftermarket controllers you may have. I pay via paypal, and don't bull around.

Likewise.

They are only original once, but where is the restoration versus repair line drawn? In my opinion, if you are using "correct" replacements, you are repairing the unit. If you go into cosmetics, it would be a restoration. If you use parts that work, but are not original, you are building a hack. And, if you are scratch making one with original parts, you are making a recreation. I always engrave mine on the bottoms after a MAJOR overhaul, or recreation is built. It is getting harder everyday to find an unmolested original unit, so putting information out there is key.

Went to Traders Village one time, and there was a feller that brought in a Heavy 6er, some games, and controllers. I didn't want to cut into his business, so I just watched as the vendor bought the whole box for 20 bucks. After the transaction was completed, I inquired about the 6er, and he told me probably 120 bucks. I understand having to make a profit to keep the doors open on a business, but don't understand why folks feel they need to retire on one item's profit.

The bat in Adventure has got to be the worst.

Ultimarc makes a dedicated 4/8 magnetically centered joystick that converts from 4 to 8 way by pulling up and turning the handle. I've used them, and they're pretty slick. Called the Mag Stik Plus. http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html
