  1. thanks for all of your suggestions. Will open up the old XL when I get a spare moment and report back. Think I'll check sockets, solder joints etc first then may try reflashing the Ultimate again
  2. Hi All Fired up the XL tonight and struggling to load anything for some reason. My set up is an 800XL with the 1MB ultimate mod, Sophia and stereo pokeys. Here's what I have tried...... 1. Loading from a 1010 tape deck - tried a previously tested tape and wouldn't even load the first block (odd beeping coming from the speakers). Tried another tape and it loaded for about a minute then just stopped. No noises or errors 2. SIO2PC - used a disk image. Loads a few blocks then stops. Cold boot. Loads more blocks then stop. Sometimes gets further than other times. Usually gives me random characters at the bottom right of screen 3. S-drive max - same as number 2 and tape images fail the same too. Like I said this all used to work but has gotten gradually worse over time.
  3. I currently have a Rambit upgrade installed in one of my 1010s. Did upload a video a couple of years ago of it loading a game from tape that was only ever released on Disk - Master of the Lamps. Fond memories back in the day loading games so quickly.
  4. converted and loaded from cassette with Rambit turbo loader. Took around 3 minutes
  5. now here's where it gets stranger. Plugging the Atari stereo output back into the mic input of my pc and the sound is pretty much perfect. odd.
  6. I've checked all over. All cables seem fine to me. If I unplug the HDMI lead from the back of the Sophie mod the humming gets quieter but doesn't disappear completely. Connecting the RCA to the input on my soundcard and putting the audio through the PC seems to lessen the hum to almost silence but the audio coming from the Atari is so quiet its hardly there. Pretty sure it worked fine before and I haven't changed anything since. Most odd.
  7. Hi all. Recently managed to get back to my 800xl for a play and I'm getting a loud hum coming from the stereo out RCAs on the back. Pretty sure it was fine before. I have the 800xl with Ultimate1b and Sophie DVI installed along with the Pokeymax V2. All the wiring seems fine. I can here faint audio coming out my speakers from my hifi amp when connected to the XL but its overpowered with hum making it unbearable. Any ideas as to what could be causing it? Checked the RCA cable and works fine when connected to another source
  8. is there an easy way to find all your uploads on Archive.org in one search for easier downloading?
  9. If you are happy to post the cassette to me here in the UK I would be more than happy to try and dump it and convert. I have a good setup and have already contributed around 100 tapes to the community
  10. I still use and love cassettes. As a child I grew up with tapes in the UK as I never obtained a 1050 until many years later. For me tapes provide me with the nostalgia and takes me back to the 80s and waiting for a game to load. I know I can instantly load any games I choose now with the many modern options of which I have many of them but where's the fun in that? @baktra I still use your Turgen system today and I believe helped you sort out the Rambit turbo option of which I still have my 1010 with this turbo upgrade and still works today.
  11. use the Turgen system for tape files. A lot more reliable and it outputs straight to audio too
  12. I've checked the rpm and its bang on 288 so don't think thats the issue. Will check voltages and post on here when i get chance
  13. Hi all. Have a 1050 with the mega speedy mod. Works kind of fine. When first turned it reads and writes single density without issue but try to read or write enhanced or double and it fails. If used for a while to get "warm" it eventually starts to work with all disks so i know its not the read head or motor. Any ideas for this behaviour? I have a set of new caps ready to go in but don't want to do this unnecessarily.
  14. Hi all. As the title suggests....does anyone have a Supercard Pro they no longer require? I am based in the UK so as close to here would be ideal to cut down on postage costs. Thanks in advance.
  15. how do you access the FTP side of Atarimania?
  16. any chance of a full dump of Yoomp on cassette please?
  17. If you're in the UK I was offering to send you some disks.
  18. Morning all. I have an 800XL with the U1MB, stereo pokey and Sophia installed. Fairly recently, and before I installed the Sophia, my machine has developed an odd issue. Whenever I switch it on all I get is a black screen and it doesn't boot. By pressing the reset button it then boots and works perfectly. It does this everytime I switch off and on again. Any ideas?
  19. I have already dumped some disks and uploaded but I also have tons of floppy disks that I want to create real disks from images. Such a shame that the greaseweazle software isn't up to the task. May have to look to purchase a Supercard if I can find one in the UK
  20. Ok. I totally understand. So we either need the ability for a8rawconv to be able to communicate with the greaseweazle or the greaseweazle to be updated i guess. My only other option is to buy a supercard pro. If i could get one of these in the uk I'd be tempted
  21. is there any chance you could add support for converting Atari images to SCP with index aligned formatting? Been speaking with the author of the Greaseweazle after many failed images written back to floppy and he says its because of the SCP files not being index aligned and results in corrupted sectors. Dont really understand to be honest.....just relating back what I've been told after sending him some dumps I've created myself that won't write back and boot successfully.
  22. Thanks Phaeron. I thought it might be a software issue. Its a shame a8rawconv can't communicate with the greaseweazle as that would solve most of my issues
  23. I acquired a ton of floppy disks from someone in the US a short while ago and posted the list on Atari age. There seemed to be quite a few that needed dumping so went ahead and bought the GreaseWeazle F7 and a floppy drive. As in one of my other posts on here I’ve had mainly bad results from my set up with not being able to create real floppies from images either converted from ATR/ATX files or dumping then writing back. I have just created 3 dumps for someone hopefully to look at and see whats going on. My drive seems to work fine as any backup I try and write back always errors at the same point on the images that fail. I have attached 3 images created from original floppies… Zaxxon - Datasoft - dumps fine and writes back perfectly everytime. Loads first time Lode Runner - Broderbund - dumps fine and writes back but gets stuck near the beginning looping at the same sector Shamus - Synapse - same as Lode runner https://gofile.io/d/eoHHH7 Really starting to pull my hair out with all this. I want to dump the floppies but not if its going to be a waste of time
