It must be Taco-mas, because this showed up in my inbox. Thanks Secret Santari! AtariboxOpeningMine.mp4.5f01f82585e1534ca82700d39f02c9d4.mp4

For any other aspiring Ataribox builders: Via https://medium.com/@atarivcs/atari-vcs-teases-the-future-at-the-e3-expo-in-los-angeles-c08e970a90d9

The video was some anonymous user claiming to have a prototype, which Atari denied was real (per @Historian). It said "Converse" on top: But for e3, Atari did have a black box running the show. If any news outlets knew this, they did not relay it to their readers. A month or so later Atari admitted their "gamestation" was a box with the picture shown below, though they didn't confess they were being deceptive by having a bunch of non-working (but power-LED turned on) Ataribox shells on the table: Hey, waitaminute. Let me play with brightness and contrast on that box. WTH:

No, this is a full emulation station: It's PC-based. Build pics here: https://imgur.com/gallery/ZABrBDB

@Historian locked the Reddit thread because it was confirmed by Atari to be a fake. On a side note, all but one of the "prove the haters wrong" YouTube comments have been memory-holed.

@Lodmot 2018: FlipflopflipflopflipflopflipflopFlipflopflipflopflipflopflipflopFlipflopflipflopflipflopflipflopFlipflopflipflopflipflopflipflop @Lodmot 2019: Get him, boys! (I'm glad you're at least not stressing over it, though.)

Paging @Lodmot Jul 19, 2019 was Atari's last update. I'm just a small town boy from flyover country, but my cypherin' says that's more than a month ago. Didn't you report them for this before? Well now they abandoned the comment questions about the same time, you can do c) too! Via the Terms of Use (emphasis, mine):

<deleted D'oh, wrong thread.>

The actual formula is Current Year - Steamboat Willie + 50. I'm all for hard work and creativity being awarded, but we don't live in bubbles away from other influences. Disney became famous largely because of their animations of public domain stories. Even the popular Frozen was loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. Atari's Adventure was lifted from tales other people told or wrote. Everything is a remix. I will always maintain our society is hurt--not helped--by insane copyright laws.

I like that we crowdsourced a song about a crowdfunded project. I'd make more but Mom yelled downstairs to say the burritos are ready.

Ten pigeons cooing.

I don't think that everyone who funded the program are pigeons. There are several backers in this very thread who admited they went in knowing they might be throwing away their money. There are also plenty of people who were fooled by Atari's smoke-and-mirror antics and saw it as pre-ordering a real product. Those are the pigeons. Don't get me wrong: We all can make mistakes. But when even the mildest of doubt gets hit with the ban-hammer, it's pretty safe to say the pigeon is strong in them.

"GameStop Enters Sellout Talks"
PlaysWithWolves replied to Austin's topic in Modern Console Discussion
What if they were VR-only and the demo was walking around inside of a virtual Gamestop? -
Atari abandoned Reddit when they lost the ability to control the narrative: That's not the worst. While untoward Indiegogo posts continue to disappear, they meant it when they said the pre-order campaign was closed "as of June 11th, 2019". Here's the last interaction with people who blind-faith trusted them with their money:

Now I kind of want to see Gamestop transform into an alcohol-serving esports bar. 😂 -
PC Basic Programs where to find.

Even though I know nothing about C64s, I like a good mystery! Shockingly, it turns out it's the hand symbols: The explanation can be found earlier in the mag: https://archive.org/details/HomeComputerMagazine_Vol5_01/page/n73 -
Or maybe even tacos?

I meant to mention this email I received a couple of days ago from Gearbox Publishing. Just like Atari, SA tried to do investment-crowdfunding with Roller Coaster Tycoon for the Switch, so goes Gearbox with Homeworld 3. Well, it's not exactly the same. It's sort of a Kickstarter-style and investor amalgam. Choose tier levels in a regular crowdfund or spend $500 to invest. Gearbox said it was already funded and this is to just allow fans input and possibly expanding the game. It's already blown well past their $1 (yes, one dollar) goal to over $600,000. Crowdfunding video (with edgy adult language, fellow kids):

Less than three months to December and they're still showing renders. Also, doesn't it have to be real to have a "physical feature"?
-
It's not an officially-sanctioned magazine. It's made by a fan who is a graphic designer, or something..
