  1. Despite the title it's not an apology video, so don't go in expecting one. Skip to about 3:35: I found this to be a human reaction to ad hominem attacks but still petty and disappointing. @Albert chastised the personal attacks here from a moral standpoint, whereas I tried to from a more logical aspect; i.e. arguing someone looks funny or that they are just fanboys just opens us up to being likewise attacked. Most of this video is ad hominem attacks from Ian and Pat and even wrongly expanded to the AA community writ large. If you must argue, then argue the facts. It's clear the RetroVGS/Chameleon scandals still weigh heavily on their minds. I personally feel the comparisons aren't fair, as this is a VC-funded project and not trying to deceive fans via crowdfunding. But clearly, not everyone has gotten my memo. I also wouldn't expect @pxlsicle (Ian's dead(?) account) and Pat to know this thread is a largely criticism-free one because a couple users were haranguing @Tommy Tallarico. I find being able to see his enthusiasm and interact with him much more interesting than being overly critical and possibly running him off. It'll be a real product and will sink or swim when it's released. BTW, I'm no debate expert. I just learned this from years of political "discussions" with a bunch of smelly poopooheads.
  2. I see Jessie Scroggins is already on top the @TACODON problem. And here I thought we were supposed to be the toxic ones?
  3. This is figuratively criminal, and should be literally criminal. The earliest archive.org of the campaign is 08/29/18-- a couple months after the campaign-proper ended. Even as such, it's vastly different than the current page stands. I like this part: 08/29/18, coincidentally, was the Hands-Down-the-Pants summit where the "Atari VCS" was some giant, generic AMD test board:
  4. BitD, my brothers and I were disappointed when the ending of the 2600 Demon Attack turned out to be a blank screen because it crashed. I think that day we spent hours swapping turns, but eventually we could get there in no time. Endings are fun--something to strive for. In games without real endings (RPGs/RTSs), I think achievements fill some of that desire.
  5. @Tommy Tallarico I guess I was thinking about later, when the console is released. I don't think they would be anti-Amico just because Pat is into NES. I do wish they would do their due diligence; particularly if you've reached out to them. Countering them with facts (as you are doing) is best anyway.
  6. You guys are awful with the ad hominem attacks. Ian and Pat will be fair and didn't say anything unreasonable about the Amico in that last episode. Tommy just came off a podcast where he convinced a doubter and several of you praised him for the interview.
  7. In my defense, I did say "bit of". 😁 I don't believe any of us have problems engaging with Ataribox fans if they want to have an earnest discussion. If they are banned from this thread it's because they wouldn't play nice--including being willfully obtuse (e.g., sea-lioning). In Michael Artz/Atarivcsofficial's worldview, there should be no places like here or The Register or even the milder Reddit under @Historian 's hand. I do confess a part of me is okay with a fan club doing something like that, even if I don't think it's the best overall. It can be a rough world out thar, so whatever gets you through the night
  8. LeBron James wants in on some of that hot "Taco Tuesday" trademark action and filed for it on August 15th. 🙄
  9. We've got a bit of an echo chamber thing going here too. Not so much by our choice, but because they're awful trolls... and probably hate tacos.
  10. Congrats; your contest (and this thread) made Engadget: https://www.engadget.com/2019/08/30/atari-lynx-30-year-anniversary/
  11. That's the era for me. My XBone feels like it could be easily replaced by a PC.
  12. I have no idea whether or not this is a viable product for selling, but it's pretty neat!
  13. This hombrew-homage needs to be a couple levels in the Ataribox saga game:
  14. Yep. Alone in the Dark and Act of War were sold to THQ Nordic, last year: https://thqnordic.com/index.php/article/thq-nordic-acquires-alone-dark-and-act-war-atari-europe-sas
  15. I won't buy Amico unless everything is drawn in the style of Jack Kirby or Ralph MacQuarrie.
  16. The Indiegogo campaign says Vault is included, but it's curiously absent from GameStop and Wal-Mart's product pages. It is listed on ArariVCS.com, but is unclear to me if it's included or will be a purchasable option.
  17. I always just wanted a Roku + 2600 games in a reasonably-priced package. Bonus points if they could emulate newer Atari systems too. I'd have even been on board with the new "classic" joystick, but for $50 that thing better be worth it. But,they never asked me.
  18. I have no idea if Atari paid him but, in his defense, it seems to be his schtick. A search of "By Will Fulton" shows a bunch of articles that are similar in format. Though I must say Atari couldn't have written a better promotion. I'm happy to warm up the tar just in case. 😈
  19. This is a few weeks old, but Atari sold off another of their game IPs: Slitherine acquires the Master of Magic franchise
  20. So, some thirty years ago Taco Johns trademarked "Taco Tuesday" and actively defends it. I pretty much hate everything these days.
