  1. Hehe, I figured. Sometimes I get over-enthusiastic. Let me know here or in PM if there's anything I can help you with.
  2. You may already be aware of this, but just in case: Here's how this guy tackled hills in his psuedo-3D racing game: http://codeincomplete.com/posts/2012/6/26/javascript_racer_v3_hills/
  3. Ah. I thought you were referring to both the undulating track and the very distant hills. BTW, I just happened upon this thread where the Super Burnout programmer chimed in about tricks he used (including branches):
  4. What about your suggestion of a second parallax layer for the distant hills? In the Road Rash video, the back layer moves faster horizontally than the front layer, but they always stay on the same vertical plane.
  5. Yep! I'm not sure what version of PSP he used, but that's how he converted the files to LBM, too. It seems you're already closing in on Sega 32x Road Rash graphics and apparently hardly broke a sweat. I wonder what's next?
  6. Haha, no worries. LBM was actually a problem for me when helping Carl, because the closest Photoshop can get is IFF (as far as I know). A couple months ago I snatched-up some Humble Bundle 2D game-making assets which included the program, Pro-Motion. It saves in the Deluxe Paint LBM format, among some others.
  7. I didn't realize that LBM wasn't standard; I assumed it was because Protector SE uses it. Some with shadows: sporadic_tree.bmp sporadic_tree_small.bmp sporadic_tree_skinny.bmp
  8. They've since offered lower tier rewards, but Kicktraq is predicting they'll only hit 53% of their goal in the remaining twelve days: http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/donbluth/dragons-lair-the-movie/
  9. Awesome. I hope it works, at least for testing (even if not look-and-feel). I did a simple resize, so this ZIP has a 64wx96h and a 64x64 version. sporadic_tree_alternatives.zip
  10. Cool project! I'm flying pretty blind here, so caveat emptor, but I thought I'd attempt a tree to try (if you want). 96x96 LBM 15-color palette w/transparent color. LBM is inside the ZIP. sporadic_tree.bmp sporadic_tree.zip
  11. Prominence is an indie first-person science fiction adventure game that I've been beta testing. It's on its last day of a pre-order special ($15.99), which includes both a Steam key and DRM-free download. It wouldn't be fair for me to give a review as I've known one of the lead developers for over ten years (online) and naturally wish him to succeed. I've included a couple of videos to give a taste of what is in there. Release date is Nov. 6th, with a full price of $19.99; currently Windows-only.
  12. Considering they seem in no hurry to slam it out, I suspect the RGR podcast on this will be less about pageviews and more about just getting the facts out there.
  13. He was "pseudo-transparent" before; meaning that there was some transparency but not complete transparency. Now, he's stated they were completely transparent, which we all know is not true. He's not being transparent now at all, nor is he claiming to be. We know very little about RVGS 2.0 beyond the lower price point, the same pack-in game, and the likelihood that it'll still use the Jag shell. He indeed was forced to learn those lessons I listed, but I still think he learned them. They were hard-hitting. I also don't think he learned all lessons. I found his "apology" here to be rather passive aggressive. He really only apologized to the few friendly people who got lumped in with the rest of us bad apples when he insulted Atari Age.
  14. In his defense, I do think Kennedy learned some lessons. Namely: The need for a prototype, a lower price point, not to be pseudo-transparent (though I think his reasons are different), and that Kickstarter is preferred by his customer base.
  15. Off-topic, but there's an intriguing theory that Jar-Jar Binks was the Phantom Menance and intended to be a "drunken master"-style dark Force user. I mean, it's not like we were ever head-faked by a silly puppet before in the Star Wars universe.. Also a theory on who he may be in SW:TFA.
  16. He also said they'd only go with Kickstarter before they switched to IndieGoGo. Maybe the two statements cancel each other out?
  17. Ah, it's actually to raise money to make a ten-minute demo so they can raise $70 million later. Neat, though. In the meantime, anyone who likes Dragons Lair and Space Ace might find this recent interview with character animator Skip Jones interesting. It's made by one of AtariAge's own, btbfilms76:
  18. I don't know, but now I'm tempted to wrap mine in tin foil.
  19. Forever(?) immortalized earlier in the thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/235430-how-has-this-not-been-posted-yet-retro-vgs/?p=3328478 And yeah, no profile picture there either.
  20. I don't recall that name having a profile pic before but I guess anything is possible. His fanboyism before makes it very believable.
  21. It can be found buried in the latest Facebook post comments.
  22. Skarp Laser Razor update: They raised US$400,000 so far and the two-week campaign ends tonight. One of their updates mentions that they only did two weeks so they can get to work faster. A cynical man might say they didn't want to risk the campaign getting canceled again.
