I played it more because I'd heard it's better in 3rd-person view. Part of that reason is the wider POV the camera affords. It's true for me -- I did generally better. Granted, part of my problem in this and BF4 both was the tendency to pop right into scope mode. Got to the "max" level for the beta, which is level five. A window pops up to tell us this, but also says there will be many more weapon and ability unlocks. Also got to drive an AT-AT, which was fun except most of the action was far away and we only get ninety seconds. Another time I think I got a hero pick-up but didn't know that enemy gunfire would negate the ability when summoning it. Bummer. I won't be buying it, though. Maybe when the price eventually comes way down.

I'm still curious what the final RVGS will be and how the next campaign differs from the previous one. Redemption might be had; it'd just take some work. Ditto the breadsticks. Same dough, I imagine, and I want to say cooked in the same pans. Crispy/buttery outer crust with soft bready goodness inside. All for something like a buck or a buck-fifty. Mmm ...

The guy is fairly hard to understand. The whole DOOM III thing still has me perplexed.

At best, he's woefully misinformed about what rights purchasing a game entitles him; perhaps also a bit deluded about the service he thinks he's performing for the Jaguar community by printing the CDs/covers. At worst, he's trying to pay for his gaming habit, or just make some money, by selling warez. This seems to be what most in this thread think is the case.

I know some construction contractors and I worked in the pizza business in the late-80s/early 90s. Crowdfund me and I'll make an authentic 70s/80s/early 90s Pizza Hut happen. Stretch goal: Cavatini. Nobody wants fifty menu items, anyway.

Not PS1, but it does seem to have some Halo-series elements. I haven't played the series in a while, but if memory serves it's stuff like recharging health/shields, limited weapons (unless picked up) and no classes. Some elements are pretty similar to later Halo games too -- jet packs and an emergency shield ("drop shield") come to mind from Halo Reach; though the latter may not exactly count.

I can't argue your statement, I just don't think it's a big issue to most people. Take from that what you will. You're going to heaven, I'm going to hell. I didn't even make it personal! I'm not a collector, but maybe those types like the thrill of the hunt? Or it's like finding treasure in real life? One thing that's pretty awesome about AtariAge is its, and many of the users', stance against ROMs of homebrew games.

I guess that depends on one's stance on the morality and/or legality of downloading ROMs.

This is true and probably led to what he feels was his "name being dragged through the mud." Maybe that's one lesson he's not picked up from this mess: Before IGG I felt I'd worked harder than I needed to in this thread try to give him a fair chance. On day one of IGG, I finally succumbed to "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck." If people drug his name through the mud, it's because they saw a duck. Of course, I'd hope it just be something like over-enthusiasm or misspeaking. But he'll have to run a rock-solid campaign this time.

It sounds like you're taking the right lessons from this, even if they were rough to learn. I hope you can equally understand how you, your team, and the project was perceived throughout this. You know what is in your heart; the rest of us (those who don't know you personally) only can judge from what we see. Best of luck to you and your team.

It's fun to dream, but the reality is you'll need a decent amount of money to do it. Well, unless you're planning on burning CD-Rs and printing box and CD labels at home. But then again, everyone interested in such things can probably do that already themselves.

It just occurred to me that RVGS was asking for ~$100,000 in prototyping costs and another ~$80,000 stipend for each member of the group, including Carlsen. I don't know -- even that may be fair -- but they wouldn't dare go in front of a VC (or Shark Tank) with just a couple of translucent Jaguar casts and phat ideas. And FWIW, I noticed that in my first post on this (which you replied to) I didn't clarify I was speaking in terms of what they could have shoestringed together before coming to us to ask for our financial support. That may have saved us both a lot of discussion and misunderstanding. Mea culpa.

glazball, I see others have responded, so I don't mean to pile onto you. I would like address this: It's not the community's fault if they don't trust a guy who exaggerated once too-often. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" is an adage for a reason. It's just another hurdle Kennedy will have to overcome.
