As a Tea Party type I was about to throw down, but... oh, nevermind. I can do politics a thousand other places. Thank you very much. I've suspected that's what was happening, but wasn't sure. I think something similar may be going on with the "in negotiations" games, too. Developers hear they might be able to get extra sales with little work so they leave it open. "Sure, sell 10,000 consoles and we'll talk!" What a misinformed hater. He probably was promised a percentage of sales from kevtris' "competing device" too! His suggestion that a new business should come up with at least half the necessary capital when crowdfunding was interesting. He's human and got caught up in the excitement, maybe? Or perhaps just didn't realize that Mike's "Just Trust Us" campaign has more holes than a colander until he read more about it? I mean, just PikoInteractive and kevtris bombshells alone didn't come out until the day of the campaign. Who'd have known how flippantly they treated developers like them until that point? I see SD&R already pointed out that his interview with Mike Kennedy was from back on July 8th. -

That's interesting. I wish I could see what Mr. Siller wrote. I don't have a FAcebook acct. -

Mike Kennedy's been marketing FPGA emulation and ARM for modern retro-styled games. Pretty much would do whatever you, the consumer, want it to do. John Carlsen wants mostly ARM, including for emulation. FPGA for glue, or something. Steve Woita sounded pretty firm about wanting FPGA emulation. I'm not sure how he feels about ARM. I think FPGA was originally his idea. You know; stuff they should have hammered out long before asking for money, -
Buy a replacement 360 or an XBONE?
PlaysWithWolves replied to JamesD's topic in Modern Console Discussion
And if you aren't already, make sure you get the free XB1 "games with gold" each time you get the free xb360 game. Then you're set for when you do get the XB1. -

An infusion of new blood plus thread veterans that vaguely recall some Atari ET-like tidbit was buried somewhere in the thousands of posts is likely the cause of much of that. I guess also calling out the RVGS team on any morsels they give us that don't fit what they told us. At about 0:10:15 of the Game On Expo panel Carlsen mentions this: "I got to design a PlayStation inside its own controller with just some video output." rbenchley's was a good educated guess, though. Ah, Retro Land! Interesting idea. Must be why their Crowdcharts "Pleged Daily" chart looks like a more-terrifying version of the world's tallest water slide? ^----- Complains about thread and tells others to move on; continues to post in said thread. -----^ -

This was posted many, many, many posts ago but here's TVTropes' list of game breaking bugs: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GameBreakingBug There's a few cartridge-bricking ones included in there that required a replacement to fix. -

I would almost back a crowdfunding campaign to do a motivational poster based on those quotes. -

I decided to read the transcript instead of the audio. Much thanks for all your work, triverse! I'm still reading, but I'm already irked. The following is not the system we've been hearing for months: Edited to add that a bit later it seems like Carlsen is a fan of software emulation, whereas Woita wants FPGA-style emulation. Interesting. -

You probably saw Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium, then. Currently $150 and can transcribe from audio files, but AFAIK doesn't discern different speakers or automatically add punctuation. So with adding punctuation, speaker names and fixing incorrect words I'm not sure if it would be helpful or not. You're a dedicated man. 2011 demo: -

He says, "Don't give out details on the system until you are firmly committed to them." Just about the only things to not change on this system are the Jaguar shapes and the modified WI-U controller. They really should have nailed down specs before talking about them; it just causes confusion and makes RVGS team sound squirrely and possibly dishonest. -

If you continue to do interviews like this, I hope you take the previous commenter's advice and get transcription software. Then you can just (hopefully?) listen again and verify or edit as needed. Well, if the software works as promised, that is. -

One other interesting thing about that Game On Expo video (which happened Aug 28th or 29th, I believe) is that somewhere in the 20-25 minute mark they expressly say this will not play old cartridges and it's not an emulation machine. Carlsen even mentions he's against emulation because old systems are so readily available. Back somewhere around Sept. 1st or 2nd I misremembered an old Mike Kennedy post as implying there would be cartridge adapters. This generated some interest from members here. Then suddenly on a Sept. 2nd post here Kennedy announces: Hey, we're keeping FPGA because we'll have cartridge adapters! Could be coincidental, but is it any wonder that people think there's something fishy going on? -

There may be more patents, but AFAIK the only time they actually mentioned them was at Game On Expo in late August. Carlsen talks about the proprietary cartridge interface and at a bit after 0:25:10 says, "I'm actually hoping we'll pursue a little bit of patent protection on this. I'm already listing out a number of claims for our patent attorney." I'll still watch, but I hope triverse doesn't take too much longer to get the video out. That it's apparently almost ninety minutes long is disheartening. I just hope it isn't sixty minutes of hearing Kennedy speak and twenty minutes or so of everyone else. -

similar, I think my interest in RVGS was more nostalgia-fueled than concern over the handful of favorite games I've lost to Windows or Xbox changes over the years. In fact, I also can't even remember what happened to my NES games that I loved playing way-back-when. So maybe I can call that "even". I've lost PC games and cartridge ones. A console like RVGS should take into account modern-day needs, like DLC and bug fixes. I'm glad that lately Kennedy has been at least admitting that bugs get through and not just declaring that cartridges were/are bug-free. It's almost like the "misinformed" and "haters" actually knew something! Now, after I misread a Kennedy (username Parrothead, here) quote, thinking he was implying converter cartridges -- and then he announced they were keeping FPGA for the specific reason of converter cartridges -- well, I actually was kind of excited. I was tempted to go through lists of old games and see if I liked any enough on various systems to buy them. But, that temptation left me once the actual IndieGoGo came out. No specifics, no money for them. And besides, I really want a snowblower for just a little bit more. -

Triverse, I'd be tempted to release at least the audio (video?) just because the fire is hot. Hopefully anyone who prefers the transcription can understand. See below for what probably happened when he disappeared from the podcast. Short answer, as I understand it: Kennedy apparently skipped doing many podcasts, and the last straw was when he went to something called "Surf Dogs" instead:
