  1. It's kind of sad that it's come to this perception because they may well be very competent in their fields. Maybe hire an(other?) expert?
  2. I thought I'd check out the stats and responses to that gamester81 infomercial. Over 6000 views, currently 111 more dislikes than likes and gamester81 is in full defense mode; even going as far as pointing to the 55:00 mark where he says he's not doing the video to sell machines. One of the commenters had an astute response to gamester's saying it's not a commercial: nfomercials often use the "interview" trope. "Doctor, tell us more about this amazing weight loss product. " But, I think we all know that already.
  3. I think it's a good bit of candor from Carlsen. I've worked with a CEO/sales guy who had no filter. He'd take it as fact and swing into hype mode. It wasn't that he was lying; it's just that he'd latch onto more buzzwords or ideas. The project manager was very cautious about telling him what ideas we were trying in order to improve our product. So, I think it's a plausible excuse. There's a whole lot of stuff that needs to happen between Carlsen saying, "And I think we even could have cartridge adapters" and Kennedy saying, "We will have cartridge adapters". Kind of like a lot of stuff needs to happen between PikoInteractive saying, "sure, we'd be on your system" and it actually becoming true (silly details like contracts or how they would be ported).
  4. I could be mistaken on this, but I'll throw it out into the aether anyway: I think when Kennedy talks about prototypes, he's referring to boards that fit inside the Jag shell and resemble the final product. "A very stripped-down version of our Retro VGS prototype" might be Carlsen speaking in layman's terms; as he apparently taught some classes. His "speak to me in Captain Dummy talk" helped me understand at least what was connected to what. Before IGG happened, we asked to see even the evaluation boards. Maybe that's what we're getting, even if it's a day late and dollar short?
  5. It's not my IP, but I'm just not sure patenting is worth the risk of the project never coming to fruition. They are asking people to fund their business start-up with all the risk and the only reward being a fairly pricey product -- maybe. I do feel empathy for Carlsen if he indeed drained his savings, though. I just hope it didn't mostly go to lawyers.
  6. So many of these problems could've been averted if someone would've told Mike to run a bug-free campaign. Just sayin'.
  7. For anyone curious, a guy who says he ran RetroVGSClub posted over at neogaf: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=179974526&postcount=500 He uses an interesting combination of curse words that I'm not sure I'm allowed to copy over here.
  8. Gamester complained of getting dislikes on his video before twenty minutes. It was clear within less than that it was going to be a softball interview. While I only scrubbed through most, Gamester finally mentions in passing that he's "involved" with Tiny Knight. They don't realize this kind of behavior feeds into the whole "smoke and mirrors" idea. They keep doing things that make them look shifty, when they really just need to be straightforward.
  9. Well, I do realize that integrity is a bit much to ask at this point.
  10. Stay classy, Mike -- replying to a suggestion for people to watch the two-part #CUPodcast/Pat the NES Punk video (emphasis, mine):
  11. It took me less than five minutes to realize I can't listen to Kennedy say anything at all any more. Skipped to 50 minutes and at about 52:40 they both were in agreement how awesome everything is and some people just want the campaign to fail, or something. @ ~51 minutes Kennedy says that they could have twenty games but "6-8 games is probably about right" for 5-7000 console users. Don't want to spread too thin so everyone can make money (paraphrasing, but that's essentially it). @ ~52:20 "John's company, Collectorvision's got probably seven or eight games we want to bring on". Err... what? If there was a disclaimer from this "neutral" party, I missed it. I just can't do it. I look forward to hearing Triverse's interview, which I suspect will have more meat.
  12. AFAIK even Steve Woita isn't developing a game for the RVGS, and we've been hearing for months from Mike how badly Woita wants to make a game for the system.
  13. That would be the Retro VGS pack-in, The Adventures of the Tiny Knight.
  14. I'm surprised it lasted even this long. Lots of less-than-favorable posts.
  15. I don't have my glasses on. Did you write, "Old Gangers"?
  16. I can't look away from this thread. It's like a crowd-written book that has dreams, scandal, humor, betrayal, torches, and now: Romance. (though I wish they'd just have rolled out a viable prototype and saved us all the trouble)
  17. Well I think Paypal is the least of their problems but, if true, I'd rather that not be one them.
  18. I don't know about that, but I kind of wanted to see him purchase the 30 RVGSes he spoke of elsewhere just to see what would happen.
  19. No. Kevtris did analyze that rendering in a post earlier, though. Unless I missed something, I think he was only going to license his cores to them, but also offered free hardware advice. I'm pretty sure John Carlsen did that one.
  20. Umm... errr... uhh... Well, this is awkward: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/retro-vgs#/funders
  21. The 9-pin connectors are the vestigial remnants of the Retro VGS' former FPGA specs. Though, I guess it may appeal to a niche (has favorite 9-pin controller) of a niche (wants modern retro games on carts) of a niche (likes modern retro games)?
  22. I don't know Mike Kennedy, but I know he's come through on some projects and that at least some (if not many) people here respect him. The above video is another reason I believe it's time to just pull the plug and regroup before his reputation is irreparably damaged. The video was clever and indeed hits close. But by the time the ISIS thing rolled around I just felt bad for not only Kennedy but also Woita and Carlsen.
