I think Kevtris having actual software and hardware would win people back, I think. Any bets on developer board pictures incoming? It's going to be so strange getting the blame for this, should the campaign fail.

I was looking for that fan site, RetroVGSClub to bolster the specs I copied. Their website is down (gone?) and Twitter account deleted. I guess he's not a fan any more.

Ugh, they removed even those specs? I wouldn't count on it being even that good, then. Unless there's no cheaper ARM available, that is.

Of course you didn't; it's only 14% funded. Edit: Whoops! That's an old campaign 2013, not 2015. I can't find any info on a PC version beyond that failed campaign.

In case this is helpful at all: In late December, 2014, Kennedy bought the Jaguar molds. Shortly thereafter (Jan 5th), he was taking translucent shell preorders. On Jan 30th they began recruiting game developers for a console that didn't have electronics yet. In March, he brings on John Carlsen. Apr 12 discusses "hardware emulation" and "having our own core" at about the 0:11:00 mark. As of May 31st, Parrothead/Kennedy was still talking about a $150-200 console with a caveat of 'may' be more.

This probably will be the least-feasible and stupidest thing ever written at AtariAge: What if you made the exclusive cartridge itself a dev kit along with PC game engine software (or a plug-in for popular game creation software) that is optimized specifically for that console? I'm guessing all that money Parrothead waved in front of Kevtris before taking it away would only come into play if they hit the $3,800,000 stretch goal. Of course, we don't know what FPGA goes into which tier, because they haven't told us. It sounded like even Kevtris himself was unsure. This "using low-end FPGA unless they get 2x funding for high-end FPGA" thing (paraphrasing) is a real burr under my saddle, since they've essentially been promoting the high-end one for months. So now that bridges have burned, not only is there no proof of any prototyping/developing, we know for a fact they also have no FPGA cores. Maybe if ducks were in a row, Kevtris wouldn't have felt the need to speak up? "SoCalMike" Kennedy is a host (and founder?) from at least the 2009 premiere episode (@ 0:23:35). RETRO would be doing everything except the game software, such as burning cartridge ROMs and in-house printing. Possibly even get a licensing fee. Why wouldn't this be a net-gain toward the campaign? Unless I'm missing something, it's just another way to get some more money for their project. Sure, it won't be 100% but it would be something. It's just like selling any other accessory; like as a controller. Or am I mistaken? I did just wake up to the lovely sounds of my wife hacking up a lung due to allergies. As I recall, his stated problem with KS's rules is that they don't enforce them. He linked to one campaign that recently ended, which is a great example. The strange thing is that because the RVGS team is acting like Gollum with the One Ring on technical information, RVGS seems to be only a few steps ahead (tooling; a controller). For all we know, they have a fully-functional setup and are sitting around playing multiplayer games on their yet-to-be-finished 16-bit core while drinking their craft beer. Currently predicting 82%-funded ($1,604,359) http://crowdcharts.com/campaign/retro-vgs It's still very early in the campaign, so I'm not sure how accurate it is. Still, even that 82% would be amazing and would indicate a market for something. Like a more-stable campaign and at least pictures of a dev board, perhaps?

$40 seems pretty hefty, but it's not my money. Also just to be fair to Parrothead, et al, I believe I misread what "carry priority shipping" meant when I said shipping was included. I believe he meant that campaign funders will get their consoles shipped before any post-campaign buyers do. The Facebook discussion was about buying consoles after the campaign ends.

I was also hoping to see at least a stretch goal of an adapter. I mean, it was only on Sept. 2nd that it was announced they were going to have those.

That you can plug them into your console in twenty years and they will still play (as opposed to Windows programs becoming useless) is what's supposed to wow you.

Like I wrote before, what's going on with the FPGA they are shipping if it's only barely funded? Will it only run PONG? The twice-the-funding-amount level is exactly what they've been saying all along the FPGA would be like. ETA: Still, I hope they at least contacted you and it wasn't just a "you made us look bad; you're outta here" kind of thing. After all, it was the vagueness that was the problem.
