  1. Kickstarter that stuff, madman. If it cures my aches, pains and grey hair I'm in for three.
  2. phoenixdownita is correct. Go to the campaign page and under the goal amount it says "Fixed Funding". Mouse-over the question mark and it'll explain. It's doing better than I expected w/o any trace of inside hardware. Over US$30K now in just an hour.
  3. Well, good luck to them. I honestly hope it works out for everyone who is involved, including backers and gamemakers.
  4. The Indiegogo page is so lacking in details I've moved from "looks cool; lets give them a chance" side over to the "snake oil" side. It may well be a rock-solid design but they've given us nothing beyond "hey, look at our credentials; we got this." I don't even know what it means that they're shipping with FPGA but at twice the goal they'll ship with FPGA that does what they've promised all along it would. And why no explanation for the expansion port other than more video output? I noticed that too. Awkward.
  5. I think that's 37% of the remaining 1/3; not of the full thing?
  6. Yeah, I hope they bring something. And not just some sort of Bigfoot-like video or pictures, but something nice and clear -- perhaps even a video of their hardware showing a game running. Sure, it won't fit inside their case but at least we'd know better if the hardware basics are solid. At least today we'll hopefully get some answers. If it's more vague non-answers to allegedly protect their IP then I think they're just continuing to nail shut the RVGS-branded coffin. Or, it may be too late; we'll see. It's showtime!
  7. Along with what phoenixdownita wrote, also a good read is Parrothead's Sept. 2nd post (if you haven't already). This was when the official price was announced and there was much outrage. They apparently briefly considered removing FPGA or having a non-FPGA option. But, I think the cart adapters idea won out. It'll be interesting to see if the adapters make it into the campaign, even as a stretch goal.
  8. I would encourage people to actually listen to that portion of the podcast (hence why I marked the time) instead of only my interpretation. That whole bit wasn't very clear to me.
  9. I got nothin'. And, here's why we won't likely see any dev electronics. No matter what they do it won't be enough for some of you; even the ones who don't wish to spend a penny.
  10. That was the post to which I was referring. They say they have an eval board. If they feel taking pictures of an eval board setup to be smoke-and-mirrors, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I think they need pictures and a video of it actually playing games, but it's not my project.
  11. I know it's hip to dogpile them, but earlier I did point out it sounded like they they do have an eval board. If they do, then why they refuse to show pictures or video of it working is beyond my grasp.
  12. Announcement, for any who wish to read it: https://www.facebook.com/RETROVGS/photos/a.793351770734095.1073741829.783316545070951/881539255248679/?type=1&theater
  13. Yeah, I had the same thought -- at least with all of the 3D renders and now two sizzle reels. Here's the 3D artist: http://www.delaneydigital.com Interesting 2600 concept.
  14. Yeah, when you first said you thought they may be out of funding my first thought was that they were afraid to push the project too far past the Summer-to-late-Summer campaign that was promised. Turns out you were right. I'm not sure about point 2 either, other than perhaps it's over-engineered? I guess we'll have to see what info is released in the coming days. Others have made this mistake, including myself: I'm pretty sure that's a user-submitted suggestion and not the actual diagram. The creator obtaining permission to post it makes it sound like it's official. In the later half of that recent podcast they do discuss audio output, but I just skimmed through that part so couldn't tell you the particulars.
  15. I skipped parts, but here's a few things: - 8:28 They're out of personal money and need a cash infusion to continue - 51:30 Something about some cores have to be officially sanctioned by the original console makers; they really sounded uncomfortable when someone asked about a homebrew Nintendo game. I could be mistaken, but the licensing issues may come up if a developer wants to modify the game's FPGA core so the emulated console acts outside its norms. Like a "wouldn't it be cool if a Super Nintendo just had a few extra cycles" scenario, or whatever. - 1:22:57 The new expansion port will allow room for the RVGS to grow, so there will never need to be an "RETRO 2".
  16. Expansion port; need a Sega 32X video connector for S-video signals:
