  1. Two previous orders went without problems but this time I asked for about a dozen different items (with multiples of some) and was told to limit it to 3-4 items because of heavy demand at least until mid-Februar.

He will soup-nazi you if he thinks you are wasting his time, are going to resell, are trying to horde etc. If you tried to order 2 of something you might be on his bad list now. I ordered a restored 800xl off him some years back and a couple months later wanted a restored 2600 too and he acted like he didn't want to sell and like he suspected me of trying to make some flipping profit, I explained my mother had been talking about how she used to play my brother's 2600 and I was buying her one for her birthday (which was the truth) and BAM invoice.

  2. there really isn't much reason to do so. I do like to use the bottom shielding in my 1200XL with an Ultimate 1MB board, simply because otherwise the entire system feels a little less substantial than I'd like. By contrast, my 800XL (also with a U1MB) doesn't have any of the old shielding in it at all.

    Your mileage may vary ...

Well, if you've any amateur radio operates in the area it is just common courtesy to replace the shielding.

  3. ryanmercer stop pocketing all that cool Atari tech coming from foreign lands!

it is crazy that you can buy complete products and bags of parts ships to your door from China cheaper than mailing a letter to your neighbor in town or anywhere else for that matter....

Here's a funny story from my work history.

We can get a package literally halfway around the world in 12 hours from the origin facility to the customer... the air conditioner for our office at the hub 12 years ago broke in the middle of summer, to get a part (that would easily fit in a box) from Tennessee to Indianapolis it took SIX BUSINESS DAYS. We were above our sort facility at the time and it was reaching 115-116 in our office and our computers were randomly failing from the heat unless we kept yyyyyuge fans every few desks blowing air down the aisle. It still boggles my mind.

As far as the cheaper thing, you know why? Chinese shippers gaming the Universal Postal Union https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Postal_Union

  4. But there has been declared some economic/trade war between the US and many other countries -

Don't have to tell me, literally my industry haha (I clear international freight through customs for a living, hopefully for not much longer). It's why it has taken me 13 days to come back to this thread, it's been a nightmare at work and when I leave I just want to go home and vegetate.

  5. If you think Wiisports gave u a workout, you guys should definately try out Rayman Raving Rabbids!

Get it just to play the "Orange juice stand game" icon_razz.gif

I know this thread is ancient, I mean hell I wasn't even on the forum back then and the thread is about me haha but what really killed me was Rampage. I'd go crazy trying to destroy buildings and it would leave me so sore, I got Rampage a couple weeks after that interview.

  6. You, and anyone buying, should assume nothing is ever factory sealed. Ever. Shrink wrap machines are stupid cheap and a few practice attempts will result in something perfect. The same goes for anything 'sealed' with a sticker. A few minutes with a heat gun and you've opened and closed it with no visible signs.

  7.

Well, although I'm a married person (thus, not a single person), I do still have my landline. I rarely use it these days, but meh, it's part of my DSL service and if power ever went out like when the entire midwest USA lost power some years back, I can still make calls with it.

See you're lucky with DSL, people that have VoIP via something like AT&T Uverse can only use modems and the like that use tone dialing as pulse dialing doesn't work. Good thing is, most (if not all) atari modems allowed tone dialing I believe.
