    Is it particularly hard to build one? Also I have a timex sinclair 1000 which is based on the zx81. That would be a good reference on how its made.

    Hello everyone, I've taken interest in building a computer from scratch for a few months now. But I think it's come down to 2 processors. A z80 or a 6502 processor. Which one shall I go with? Is one easier than the other? Just as a little perspective, I'm currently learning HTML in a course and know basic electrical theory. The goal of this is to be able to have a computer with a composite output to have it displayed on a tv running microsoft basic or cp/m. Where should I even start with this?

    Is anyone even collecting cd-i games? Other than the Nintendo ones, I don't see anyone wanting to collect, what is for the most part, shovelware.

    I'm trying to installing OS/2 2.0 on my old Windows vista machine haha. But whenever I put in the second diskette, I keep getting the error "the file OS2LDR is missing". Any ideas?

      I thought you needed a floppy disk to install that. Maybe it expects the file to be on drive A:?

      BTW OS/2 warp 4 is now a free download. IBM donated warp 3 & 4 to public domain.

      People with more money than I have. I baulk at paying more than £100 for a graphics card. Actually, I don't think I've ever paid more than £100 for one.

      It'll probably run decent in Vulcan mode. I'm surprised 970 is minimum when my 980M runs at 70+fps on ultra

    Why do CPU's of past don't need any kind of heatsink? Around the pentium era, CPU's started to become required. Why is that? Why did so CPU's before that time do fine without them? EDIT: Woops, this was meant for the classic computing forum, could a mod move it?

    Well, here is the problem. Since nobody is buying it right now, it's quite hard to tell the value of these things. So just judging buy the BIN isn't right. I just got my values based of the atari age rarity guide.

    It's hard to say since not many have been sold recently. But my estimate would be around 10-20 dollars per cart. Scuba diver and Inca gold might be worth a little bit more.

    Since the past couple of years, I've gone to thrift stores on a weekly basis and with all those visits, I've only came across one atari 2600 game. I don't see anything really good come up anymore. But I still go on a regular basis just for the PC games and the 35mm film cameras.

    It really all depends on your area. Saying "all teh Atari games are at value village" isn't right. Just try to go to a few see what you find. But you have to be patient. Atari games don't come up very often.

      Honestly? Either leave it on Settler and dominate in spite of anything you do (which is pretty lame), or prepare to go FAQ reading and really figure out how to specialize cities. Honestly I love Civ but sometimes..it feels like math homework.

      Civ 3 is the weakest of the series, I think. They made too many changes from 'classic' Civ 1 and 2. I'd suggest skip it and try Civ 4 or better yet Civ 5 instead.

    I'm really only looking to spend around 50-60 dollars for one. I remember seeing one with a disk drive at a thrift store for that much. Should I have picked it up? It's quite a rare occurrence and I doubt it will happen again.

    There aren't many on ebay, and the ones that are on ebay, are either broken/untested or come with the original packaging and are usually way more than I'm willing to spend.
