I've heard disabling the L1 and L2 caches will bring it down to 486 speed.

I'm looking into a DOS laptop (don't have room for a full PC). I'm looking at the Pentium 2 and 3 machines because of how abundant they are and the sound capabilities. To my knowledge, 486 and Pentium laptops don't have sound cards at all where as Pentium 2 and 3 do. Also, I've been told most Pentium 4 laptops have Realtek sound chips which will not work under dos. So, will a Pentium 2 or 3 laptop be suffice for some early to mid 90s PC games?

5.25 inch floppies was starting to be phased out in the 80s with the Amiga, Atari ST and other 16 bit computers. USB came out in 1996... thats a 20 year difference. By that time, there was little to no demand for 5.25 floppies.

This is one of the reasons I still visit thrift stores. PC games are still plentiful and I still see many of them go for nothing. Although, I don't see big box stuff go for sale that often but I always usually see a good PC game or 2 in its jewel case every time I go.

Well, I'd like to target value village specifically for their price gouging and "cuz its old its rare" crap. Honestly, Value Villages merchandise is considerably higher than other thrift store and all retro stuff gets shoved behind the counter. Like seriously, they're getting this stuff for free, untested, and they have no knowledge on this stuff and they have they still price these things for ebay prices. Anyways, all the goodwills closed down in my area (All of the Toronto area), and there prices were much lower than value villages, but when it came to video games, they did the same crap as value village. These places need to understand that they don't specialize in selling these items so they shouldn't be pricing so high.

Is anyone noticing that thrift stores are drying up of retro gaming stuff? I've been noticing less and less stuff at thrift stores every time I go. I haven't found any retro gaming stuff in literally months now... I go every week and it's normally a disappointment factory. When there is some good stuff, it's normally behind the counter and sold for above eBay prices normally, which is quite sad.
