I've made a couple of the Tang alternatives. They worked well for me. One is in a Nabu and the other is in a TI-99a. The TI needs the "fat" version of the PCB. But you need to be handy with a soldering iron and build your own. Also, they have VGA output.

Well I figured out my problem. Turns out I did not have USR3 - on. Knew it was probably something dumb I was over looking Now time to see about making one for my TI-99.

Well I finally got around to finishing mine after several interruptions. The Nabu sees it, displays things nicely. Booted up network CP/M. But then it does something odd at the command prompt. It displays several ^D and displays those on every key press. If I do the same thing with the original video chip, everything works fine. I am sure I've probably done something dumb. So any ideas where to look for the problem or what to try? Thanks David

Thanks for the idea. Right now I have been trying it on a Sceptre TV. Since I have an HP monitor, I will try that one first. Then move on to one of the others like a Dell. Update: That was it. It didn't like the Sceptre. Ended up trying a generic TV that was more handy and the GW1NR-9C worked just fined on it Got the F18 demo screen. I see a soldering iron in my future for today. I've been following this discussion since about the beginning But now I have a question. Where is a good source for the GW1NR-9C boards? I think I have a bad one. Was all excited to get the parts and do some soldering this weekend. But first I tried programming the FPGA. Everything looked to go well. But nothing on the TV, it would just say no signal. Here is the chain of events. Downloaded and installed the education version of the GoWin software. Connect the FPGA to know good USB-C cable. Started the programmer software and it discovered the FPGA board. Configured it to use this board, embedded flash, 2.5 Mhz speed, the .fs file from the repo. Selected the program/configure. All went well and was all blue text. Plugged in the HDMI cable and nothing. Thanks in advance for any suggestion on a good source for the GW1NR-9C. Or any suggestions on what to try with this one. David

I don't have mad skills just only choice I seen at the time. And yes it can be a PITA without the tools. I managed and only completely ruined one connector trying. I did mine pretty much like Simius suggested.

That is a whole lot better than what I did. I.e. getting the connectors and crimping my own.

I do not believe they are available for purchase yet and is still under development. I am looking forward to purchasing one too when they are available.

I was going to make a longer cable too and was wondering about how to do that. I've done the bench vise before too. But I was not sure if it would work on those connectors. They look really fragile.

For those that have a 3d printer, I did a simple shell design for this Multicart. I didn't like mine being unprotected and couldn't find any other designs out there. The OpenSCAD source is included so you can play with the design and tweak it. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4890690

Glad you are feeling at least a little better and it wasn't a serious case!! Just keep an eye on yourself and try not to over do it for a while.

I have looked and have not found it so far. But what is the part number for the DVI ribbon cable connector? Depending on how I decide to mount my DVI connector, I might want a little longer cable and was just going to make what I needed. Thanks David

I am mostly a lurker and follow along with the discussions. But the comment about the Studio II being almost the same as a VIP got my attention. Has anyone documented the mods needed to turn a Studio II into a VIP? I have a broken one in addition to my good one with the flash cart. I'd be interested in getting the broken one working and converted into a VIP. Thanks David

Thanks on the board. Glad it will work for this project! Ok. I'll try to get a capture of the flash. I noticed while flashing some stuff was getting over written. So it may take a few tries to get the parts you need. I haven't wired up the buttons or anything yet. First wanted to make sure the board was going to work. I might give it a try later too. One thing I've noticed about my printer which may or may not apply to others, recessed lettering does not work too well but raised lettering looks pretty nice.
