An old version of multitos (mint) was on the falcon language disk. If you should want that, just drop me a mail, but know that I have a german version. On the size of a 2.5 hard disk I just can tell you it mustn't be bigger than 2.5 inches. Well, with MagiC and HdDriver you can theoretically use anything up to some terabytes

Thanks. :-)

What does AI mean, please? Sorry, I'm a german guy who has a limited vocabulary... But I'm quite sure you didn't think of amnesty, did you?

Empire. Sail around with all those ships to bring your armies to other lands. Quite addictive. Spent nights on this as it takes a lot of time to trash your enemy...

They can be formatted up to about 1,2 Mb... :-) 'PumpUp - the volume' is the software to do that. But it's not good for the security of your data. :-(

What is the difference between the 205 and the 204? From what I could tell, the 204 uses a standard MFM hard drive with various adaptors to make it work with the ACSI bus on the ST, correct? The SH204 has only one connector, so you can only use it as last target. I think there were some problems mentioned in 'Scheibenkleister' by Claus Brod and Anton Stepper which I don't remember anymore and which I could't explain because of lack of vocabulary. I myself have taken the drive out of a 204, took the scsi-controller and used a syquest drive with it for tests. At the moment the case is opened and I use the power supply to provide an icd scsi-adaptor, a hard disk and a cd-rom with power. This works fine. The SH205 is sort of a megafile looking at the case and at the board which is an all-in-one thing. So you are quite correct. Btw: You can set 'two' instead of 'various' :-)

Do they have different filesystems? That's what I don't know. If the 8-bit-ataris use the same filesystem as the ST's (and so on...) it should be possible to use the same harddisk.
-
I think the main problem will be the filesystem. It is possible to use ide or scsi-drives on atari st's, and it seems to be possible to use at least one or the other on 8-bit ataris.

I don't really know. But I know a few things that have to be given to make a thing like that possible: The computers have to have the same hardware interface. The computers must be able to handle the filesystem. With these two things I think all is said. As I don't know anything about the pre-ST-ataris I can't tell you nothing more. So to your question: It is possible but perhaps makes a lot of work to develop interfaces and software. An example: The HdDriver by Uwe Seimet has the possibility to use any filesystem to which it got specific information. It knows Fat16, Fat32 and some unix and linux systems. If someone writes a driver for HFC (Macintosh) you could use Macintosh drives directly with your atari. I asked Uwe Seimet for that but he said it's a lot of work.

Try to get a megafile (30/60) or a sh205 (not sh204). You can as well use older scsi-drives but then you need a scsi-hostadopter. Another good thing is a profile 44. You have a 44 mb syquest drive for cardridges in it plus enough space to fit in a scsi-drive.

...der ist aber auch überall :-)

I'd better not.
