  1. I'd just like to take a moment to say that Silpheed on the Sega CD is refrickendiculously awesome. From the polygon graphics to the heart attack inducing music, wicked cutscenes, and the tough as nails gameplay; everything about this game really shows off what the Sega CD could do.

That game got flack at release for the graphics being mostly pretty background with the actual game layed on top. But I didn't care, I loved the game. However it's pretty difficult and I could never finish it tbh.

They did a great job blending actual polygon objects with pre-rendered backgrounds. The effect is very convincing on a lot of stages. The gameplay itself is pretty decent too. Not amazing, but it's fast and difficult. You have to be on-point with this game if you want to survive.

I'm totally with you there NE146, pre-rendered or not the first time I saw one of the giant spaceships in the background explode into hundreds of little fragmented polygons my jaw was on the floor. I haven't beaten it yet either, though I did make it to the final boss on Stage 12 once this afternoon so I think I can finish it with some practice. ?
