The feeling when you win the screen lottery by buying a New 3DS XL from a big box retailer and end up getting one with an IPS upper screen is a wonderful feeling indeed! =D

  Most of the original production run New 3DS XLs had IPS upper screens, but to cut costs Nintendo switched to producing them with lower quality TN screens shortly after launch. Now it's extremely rare to find a new one with an IPS upper screen, and the difference in color definition and viewing angle options (as well as the stability of the "Super-Stable 3D") is pretty drastic. The one I got from Target the other day is going to be a Christmas gift for the misses. ^_^
