The trick to collecting on the cheap is to go for the systems that most people interested in game collecting don't care about. Of course, it's only a worthwhile endeavor if you yourself care about the mostly ignored systems. I like the Game Boy Color and the Wii personally. =)

  Now is prime Wii-collecting time. Lots of people getting rid of 'that old thing the kids don't use anymore', that'll get nostalgic a decade down the road and shoot prices back up.
