  1. Sometimes I really wish there were game stores that I rented out retro consoles and games, so you could pay $25 or so and try out some of the more obscure and expensive consoles for a weekend without having to spend hundreds of dollars just to find out whether or not they would be worth owning.

      I imagine the greater issue with such a plan would be someone failing to return or breaking their rental.

       

      There used to be a shop up here that would let you play games before buying. You could even set up in a lil' room for the afternoon. I don't think they're in business anymore though.

      @ls650: Sadly emulation just isn't a viable option everything *cough* Atari Jaguar *cough* and it doesn't give you a feel for what the real controllers are like either.

I'm sure back when video rental stores like Blockbuster rented out consoles they could just send the customer a bill and buy a new system if someone broke or didn't return one, but replacing a lot of retro systems these days wouldn't be nearly as easy o...
