  1. After a good year or so of pondering the matter I'll finally be purchasing an Atari Jaguar next week. I'm still not too sure about the decision and whether or not I'll find it to be worth the money, or if I'll decide that it's just a money pit with too few / too expensive good games and end up reselling it eventually, but I figure I'll never know until I try it. http://i.imgur.com/YS0LbR8.jpg

See, I actually got my hands on an XEGS for the very reasons you've mentioned, but somehow skipping the 5200 still seems like a cop-out and leaves the collection incomplete, even though I know it's irrational to want it just for those reasons.

I know what you mean, that's actually part of the reason I'm getting a Jaguar. Just to have and play one of every Atari console. I just decided that I was fine with the cop-out of going for an 800XL computer instead of a 5200 since I really (really) don't want to have to deal with the 5200's joysticks and the ever present potential for it to burn my apartment building down. XD

Good points on both counts! XD But hey, rationality isn't usually what drives collectors. I guess there's no shame in it, however you decide you want to go about collecting. One thing I thought about was finding a broken Jaguar (which is, oddly, harder than it sounds) and retrofitting a Raspberry Pi in there. The end result would be vaguely like what the Coleco Chameleon was promising, only without the scam part.
