I always wonder why people even bother starting an eBay auction at $0.99 if they're going to put a reserve price on it? Why not just start it at the reserve price and save bidders the trouble of guessing what they want for it?

  I guess they think they'll lure in some bargain hunters. But yeah, it's a waste of everyone's time and energy to start at a dollar ... why not at least start halfway towards the reserve price?
