I needed to clear my head this morning so I went on a walk up to a local coffee shop, and along the way I met a homeless man. I bought him a cup of coffee and gave him a few cigarettes then we just sat, drank coffee, smoked, and talked about what was going on in our lives for an hour or so. I had never done anything like that before but I did feel better after getting a fresh perspective on things, and I think he did too.

  @Stephen: Agreed. I've been scared out of my wits about the surgery I'm having tomorrow and it really helped to get some perspective from someone who has led a very different life with different problems and concerns, and he really appreciated having someone listen to all the worries and things that were bothering him without judging the decisions that brought him to this point. He was just passing through and I only go to that coffee shop about once a year so I doubt I'll ever se...
