  1. There was a time a little over a decade ago, before the rise of smartphones and social media, when computers enhanced our lives rather than run them. The internet was a kinder and more thoughtful place back then too, since you had to actually have a reasonable amount of intelligence to figure out how to get online and navigate the web at that point. Before the iPhone, Facebook, and Twitter came along I was blissfully unaware that the world was full of stupid people.

      Don't be a Luddite. The EXACT SAME THINGS were said about newspapers, radio, and television.

       

      Not that you're wrong, it's just that the "information superhighway" is full of people, not philosophers.

      Be a luddite, who cares, do what you think is right for you. It's not a bad thing. Using technology to the degree it adds to your life is the whole point. If you're using technology that's detracting because you don't want to be "left behind" or don't want to be called names... that's not a great reason. I would argue the exact same things were NOT said about newspapers & radio. TV, sure, and I'm pretty sure that's been a disaster. :)
