  1. There was a time a little over a decade ago, before the rise of smartphones and social media, when computers enhanced our lives rather than run them. The internet was a kinder and more thoughtful place back then too, since you had to actually have a reasonable amount of intelligence to figure out how to get online and navigate the web at that point. Before the iPhone, Facebook, and Twitter came along I was blissfully unaware that the world was full of stupid people.

      Tend to agree, although maybe more than a decade ago. Technology seems to arc to a peak of usefulness, but then goes over into becoming a nuisance. It's as if being *too* user friendly makes things too complicated. You come to rely on it, but it becomes more unreliable due to the layers of tech involved in making it easy.

      I agree completely. There's a fine line between technology being useful and being invasive, and I think we as a society crossed that line some time ago. When most people rely on a single device carried in their pocket to orchestrate almost every aspect of their day to day life that may not be a good thing. There's definitely such a thing as being "too connected".
