  1. Today I learned that on a CRT TV that only does 480i and not 480p there is no discernable difference between composite and component video. Unfortunately I learned this after spending $30 on a set of official component cables for my Wii. =P

      Who knows, maybe it's just my eyes. I've got a Sony KV-20FS120 WEGA Trinitron and swapping between the official composite cables and official component cables the picture looks exactly the same to me. I tried comparing the picture quality in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and a couple Genesis games via the homebrew channel and I couldn't see any difference at all.

      There should be at least a little difference between composite and component. If nothing else, you'll be rid of the "marching ants" phenomenon composite is infamous for. Where you're less likely to see a difference is between S-video and component.
