I realized this afternoon that in one simple sentence I can sum up my thoughts on the dilemma of whether or not to buy new systems and games when the latest games are all either digital downloads or require installs and patches that will cease to exist in 10 years when the servers providing them go offline: "Better to love and lose than never love at all."

  Newer games don't do anything for me. I can admire the technical aspects, but the gameplay is often lacking.

  I once bought a sealed copy of The Orange Box for PC at the flea market. Got home and went to install it, and it said "this is already registered, so you can't use it, you lose, good day sir!" I thought it was kinda rude and appalling.
