  1. I can't decide whether Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii is the most genuinely ambitious video game I've ever played or the worst game I've ever spent $35 for a used copy of. It might be both.

The way the game psychologically profiles you and changes everything from the locations you visit to the characters you encounter, the appearance of enemies, and even the story as a whole based on what you personally find most uncomfortable is a stunning effort to get inside the player's head and expose their real life demons and vices, but the gameplay is boring as hell.

So just like WOPR finds out, the only winning move is not to play?

Pretty much. I do really like how it's a horror story tailored to the individual player, with hundreds of different variations all designed to make the game as disturbing as possible to the psychological profile of whoever happens to be playing it. What I don't like is that the actual gameplay is just either walking around and solving simple puzzles or running for your life. It's kinda monotonous.
