  1. I wonder how long it takes for REM sleep disruption to stop after discontinuing the use of a serotonin uptake inhibitor. I'm going on 11 days now of not being able to stay asleep for more than an hour and a half at a time and it's getting tiresome.

Did you step down slowly or go cold turkey. Cold turkey is not good when coming off mood altering medications.

I take caffeine pills at work (1x in the morning and 1x after lunch) and ~50-100mg of dyphen-hydramine at night to help me sleep.

If I forget my otc sleep aide, I'll end up tossing in bed until 3am or so. After midnight is too late to take it or I'll have trouble getting up when the alarm goes off.

Prescription stuff is more hardcore though. Your doctor should have weened you off it.

You may try cutting the pill in half for a bit. Either way, 1 week should be long enough to end your dependence. Another trick that helps is to get up at the same time every morning, and resist the urge to nap during the day. Your body will eventually get tired and you should be able to sleep in the evening.
