After 29 years of playing games on Nintendo systems I just realized tonight, while looking down at my GameCube controller, why B always comes before A and Y always comes before X on Nintendo controllers and handhelds. It's because the Japanese read from right to left. *facepalms*

  It's actually because the main button they wanted you to press was on the right, not the left. Hence the higher priority of "A" being on the wrong side. Keep in mind they don't have roman characters in their language, and if they ever do read roman characters, they read them left to right as we do.

  I don't know, 30 some odd years of life? They've talked about the B-A in interviews, the latter part is my experience in Japan when I was an exchange student.
