Tonight I tried using Google Street View to go look at the house I grew up in and the places I spent time at when I was young, none of which I've laid eyes on in almost 15 years. It was a strange experience, more sad than nostalgic. Seeing everything that had changed and how even the things that hadn't were different than I remember them being. I guess you really can't ever go home again.

  I think it was the movie Grosse Point Blank where he went back to his home town and his childhood home had been demolished and a convenience store built in its place.

  I rarely go back to my hometown, and when I do, at first it's an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and good feelings .... then a day later, I have got to get the hell out of there.

  The old farmhouse where I spent my teen years is still there but completely renovated. The old gravel driveway is now paved, and they've put a second house in on the acreage, plus planted a bunch of new trees that weren't there 30+ years ago.
