Today I learned through experience that Castlevania III is the only game in the series where if you die during the final boss fight with Dracula instead of restarting outside his chamber you start halfway back across the level and have to traverse a gauntlet of cheap hits to get back to him, and using a continue takes you back to the beginning of the level. It's absolutely infuriating.

  It really is too bad the difficulty level got bumped up so high for the North American release, but I'll see it through to the end and finish the game just like every other gamer in the US had to do back in the day. It might take a while, but I'll do it. =)

  IT IS DONE! https://i.imgur.com/YukGHKu.jpg After a few hours of practice I was able to make it through Dracula's first and second forms without taking damage, but I kept dying to the laser beams from the third form. Eventually I figured out to stay a couple blocks out from a corner jumping and throwing axes, then run back into the corner whenever Dracula fired a laser beam. That worked really well for me and I was finally able to finish the game. =)
