Today I learned through experience that Castlevania III is the only game in the series where if you die during the final boss fight with Dracula instead of restarting outside his chamber you start halfway back across the level and have to traverse a gauntlet of cheap hits to get back to him, and using a continue takes you back to the beginning of the level. It's absolutely infuriating.

  I think I'll still beat it at some point, since I've beaten Castlevania I & II more times than I can remember, but holy hell they really went out of their way to make III unfairly difficult at the end.

  Yeah, but you've got a code system, so you can just play from that level over and over until you master it. Also, Drac isn't too tough once you get him figured out
