It's been a month or so since I ran any status message polls, so I think it's about time for one! Today's question is: "What do you think the most exciting time period in video game history to be a gamer was?"

  I was thinking about this question a lot over the last couple days, and it may be a product of my age but for me it was the dawning of the 32/64-bit era, right around 1994 to 1996. The shift from 2D pixel based games to 3D polygon games felt like an enormous leap forward in technology, the likes of which was never seen before or since.

  Exciting? Probably when DOOM was released. 2D was peaking and 3D was changing the whole shebang. Very exciting.
