  1. Absolutely not. The Apple II had a plethora of original expansions, and today we have some new ones and many clones of the originals. What exactly are you looking for in Apple peripherals? You've got the CFFA3000 for your storage needs. There are plenty of original and clone RAM cards typically 1MB all the way to 4MB(rare). You've got plenty of accelerators. z80 co processor pc-transporter x86 coprocessor Mockingboard Sound Card and Clones(with dual card support) Voice Synthesizers RGB Video Cards Uthernet Card w/ TCP/IP stack What more do you want? A coprocessor board that lets you drop in a Skylake Quad Core i7 CPU? What specifically do you want? ~george
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickrey_auction Something like this would work similarly to how eBay does now, and much better off. A seller puts a minimum bid. You put your sealed bid. Other bidders put their sealed bids. In theory, these bid are the max bids for each person. If you have the highest bid when they are unsealed, you win the auction, but pay the price of the second highest bid. If there are no other bids, you will pay the starting price. This would results in sale prices that are similar to current eBay auctions, but would basically eliminate the need for sniping. It would help prevent shill bidding(which is a real problem). Also, one of the biggest downfalls with a Vickrey auction is bidder collusion, however since eBay is so large and other bidders are basically anonymous, collusion would be nearly impossible. This system for eBay I think would eliminate many problems, but it would prevent bidders from updating their bid based on information about the other bidders bids. So it will prevent bidding wars, which sellers probably would not like.
  3. Not that AtariAge is a bad place to ask, but the below forum the main hub for retro RGB discussion, PVMs, Framemeisters, Scart Switching an the like. I know i've seen your issue come up there before. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=33450
  4. I'll definitely check our Carbone's. I have a friend in Torrington so I go up there occasionally.
  5. I always snipe. It's not against the rules unless you are using a 3rd party software to do it. I just put my bid in at 10 seconds left and it's my TRUE MAX BID. Your issue is 100% that you are not putting in your max bid. That's what it's there for. Unless the item that you are bidding on becomes more valuable to you due seeing others bidding on it, your max bid should not change from the beginning to the end of the auction. Of course I snipe because I know that other people don't bid what they really would pay, and I'll most likely pay less. TL;DR I have studied auction theory in Economics and there is no good reason not to put your true max bid.
  6. Hi, Will Modem MGR work on your Apple II+? It's a fantastic terminal emulator, and features VT220 emulation. I use it on my //e, but I'm not sure if it requires the extra RAM or not. http://apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/Utils/MMGR_PDOS_DSK.zip
  7. Haha, you took a picture! Awesome! Yeah I think this is going to work based on the tests we did yesterday. 9600baud seems to be slow enough that it works over VoIP. ~Grimakis
  8. I thought this idea might be more popular? Maybe, I forgot to mention of course this would be free.... maybe that will create more interest! Also, that sounds good Opry99er, I think my Raspberry Pi is set for for VT100 emulation by default. Hopefully you can support that? Otherwise I'll have to see what other terminal emulations are available.
  9. Hello, I'm thinking about opening up my Raspberry Pi 3 server to the "public" aka AtariAge to be accessed via a Dial-Up number. I'm installing a 9600 Baud Hayes Smartmodem that will be connected via a dedicated VoIP line, which should work at 9600 Baud. It isn't set up yet, but when it is, I'll post more details. Feature would include: MUTT, a command-line e-mail client. LYNX, a command line web browser. IRC chat client w/ server Command Line Twitter Limited file storage ... and much more. I'll probably open up Telnet and SSH ports for those with Lantronix or more modern equipment, in addition to the dial-up number. Please let m know your interest level. What computer would you call in with? Best, George
  10. Ti 99/4A computers themselves are fairly cheap. Among the cheapest of the well-known vintage computers. Somehow I still don't have one. Best, George
  11. Gah. I need the Rex. Also I can't figure out the mailing list. I'm on it, but I only receive the digest, not the individual posts. If only the Model 100 community would move to a real forum, it might be easier for me to learn!
  12. There is plenty of interest around Apple II. I think internet resources are so plentiful that the need for a forum isn't as great. There are software repository websites. Technical manuals for every piece of hardware ever released. Tons of add-on peripherals, both old and new, with eBay being an easy way to get anything. Unlike some other computers, the Apple II is so well documented that a lot of the general FAQ type questions don't even come up. When I have some trouble and have exhuasted my resources, I'll post on AppleFritter or VCFed. Bound to find an answer there.
  13. Hey, I just got a Tandy Model 102, Portable Computer. Anyone on AA using these? It appears to be a real winner in terms of a vintage "laptop". I'm been trying to get a hold of Ken at club100.org to buy some accessories, but no luck. Best, George
  14. Hi, I have a chance to pick up a CoCo 3 w/ 128k of RAM. I already have a C64 and an Apple IIe Platinum. What makes the CoCo worth getting? Is the CoCo 3 a good model to get? What can I do with it? Is there a good Terminal Emulator and RS-232 interface? BBS is a main criteria for me, when getting a vintage computer.
  15. Thank you for the answers guys!! Also, I did try dialing in the BBS above from my Apple. It did work, but when I went to upload a text file, xmodem transfer failed. A bit curious.
  16. Do you know which method would work best with terminal emulation software? I'm not familiar with specific programs on the Atari, but on the Apple I essentially tell the software which slot the "modem" is attached to. Similar concept?
  17. Just keep the rare stuff, sell off duplicates and documentation that takes up space on eBay.
  18. Hi, I don't yet have an Atari computer, but I do have an interest. I want to get an idea of how difficult it will be to connect to my Lantronix. Currently I have a Lantronix connected to my Apple IIe acting as a modem emulator. I can initiate telnet sessions and do file transfers, BBS, etc. How can I accomplish the same thing on an Atari 8bit? Is there a SIO to RS-232 adapter? Back in the day, how would someone have connected a generic Hayes modem? I assume via rs232? Best, George
  19. Finally, someone who appreciates Legacy of Darkness.
  20. Hi, So I have a slight issue with my 2600. I don't have a modded unit to RF is the best I can do. However I've got the following setup going on. I run the RF into a VCR which can demodulate the signal, and output it over S-Video. From there I feed it into my upscaler, which does a rather nice job up-scaling the 240p graphics. They are a bit fuzzy, and sure there's a lot of noise in the image. However the biggest issue that bothers me is color. There appears to be what people are calling a chroma delay, or chroma shift. Colors appear to drag to the right. Red more than anything. Is there any way to compensate for this either in hardware, or just as well I could correct for it in software(i want to record it basically to my PC for YouTube). Does anyone know a free utility or feature in Sony Vegas(thats the software i use) than can solve this Chroma Delay issue?
  21. Hey Metal Jesus. I made my own Hidden Gems video for the N64 here: Also, regarding a previous video you did with Kelsey re: Animal Crossing. I posted it in the YouTube comments not sure if you saw, but she is missing a game there. The one she showed for Japanese gamecube appeared to be Doubutsu no mori +, but there is also Doubutsu no mori e+. e+ is the re translation into Japanese with e-reader support, and a few other quirky features. The most notable being that you can make public works projects, much like in the New Leaf version(ten years later), and you may wake up Tom Nook late at night by banging a shovel on his door. He will let you in, but he is still in his pajamas, and will charge you more. Tell her she still needs to get e+ as she only had Doubutsu no mori +. Check it out: http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/D%C5%8Dbutsu_no_Mori_e%2B
  22. I have his "barebones" supply for the C64 as well as the C64 saver circuit.
  23. The Apple II line is fantastic. Of course they have lowercase. The //e, arguably the most common model has it out of the gate. I think many II+ also were modded/enhanced to have it.
