Inky what did the final high score end up being? Was fun to watch people compete as I passed by at various times and watched the high scores climb.

Very interested also!
I ripped a bunch off of YouTube and let them play in the background while Im working on stuff. Even doing it that way took forever to get the volume levels right and the quality not to suck so I can just imagine the effort to do it from VHS tapes. Hopefully these materialize.

Xbox vs Gamecube was never a thing. It was Xbox vs PS2 and Gamecube vs PS2 and they both lost.
-
Hopefully hes just showing pictures of the garbage items in his collection, and not the good stuff. Otherwise I feel bad for him. He has a mentality that Ive seen on a few flea market vendors.

I was at a cemetery over the weekend for Memorial Day and was sitting on a gravestone bench thinking about stuff you think about in a cemetery when I spotted this. It really put a smile on my face.
I told my Wife I wanted a tombstone shaped like a video game cartridge but I don't think she liked the idea. I'll probably just end up with my name on a nondescript rock like everyone else. Oh well. What do you want on your tombstone?

I was at a thrift store a few years ago and they got a bunch of ps1 games that day and even a few sealed games. I looked over them and for some reason had the impression that ps1 games weren't worth anything so I left. When I got home I checked prices online... holy shit I have never got in my car and drove so fast the 30 minutes back to the thrift store.
For $15 each got Valkery Profile and Strider 2 CIBs, and sealed MGS, Tales of Destiny II, Mega Man x4?, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Parasite Eve II and some others. There's no greater sin in the collecting world then not recognizing a great deal. Got lucky I didn't lose it or I would of kicked myself for the rest of my days.

Trust me, after sitting through a packed panel listening to Jeremy Parrish interview those numbnuts you would rather have it be in the landfill too.

Nothing to see here. After seeing it twice at MGC I can say that neither the dad or son know or care anything about video games and that the dad was a forklift driver and practically stole the thing. He hid items packing them up for auction and then bid and won them low.

Wow where did you get the shelving for the loose 2600 carts? Looks really nice. Great collection.

I like the alternate reality some people live in where they think Atari ST and Amiga mean something to people nowadays. Seriously the significance of the SMS, Atari 5200 7800 and every home computer that wasn't in your school cannot be UNDERSTATED enough because they are nonexistent in the American conscience. No one cares what was better when an entire country only remembers one thing. It's great that everyone remembers these mind blowing games that no one cares about and have no significance.
Just having fun btw, this thread is blatant trolling right?

I had a great time, Thanks Inky for the Pins to Identify people it was a great Idea. The vendor tent was depressing as usual. It's literally just a bunch of shop owners trading "rare" games amongst themselves. I did come away with an Apple IIe Joystick for $15 and one of the Sega swinging store racks for $100 which cleaned up pretty nicely. Cosplay contest was great this year - hopefully Svengoolie keeps coming back. As far as presenters go Ed Fries is an incredibly interesting and accomplished person and it was mind blowing to have him there. If any one missed it or doesn't know who he is here is an interview he did with IGN last year. Overall it was great I just wish I had more time or talked to more fellow AAers but I guess there's always next year!

Ahhh my brother got the Email and never checked it. There's a lot of valuable info in there, thanks for the heads up!

I can't find it on the website but is there still early access for ticket preorders on sat and sun at 9am?
-
Awesome Idea I'll take one as well.

Not true. Show me a modern game that starts in less than 2 seconds...very few, if any.
True. Let me show you 1000 steam (aka) pc games and 2000 phone and tablet games released in this year alone that you can start up and get playing just as fast as your Atari.
As I stated in my post you are ignorant to the breadth of modern games as some people are about retro. Its like saying all games from the early 80's are arcade-y.

Around the time of the Wii I lost interest in modern gaming and started buy "new" old games for my old consoles. Then I thought maybe some cool boxed stuff for my shelf. Then full blown retro gaming and collecting. I still play modern games as well old. Anyone who dismisses modern games for whatever reason are just as ignorant as those who dismiss retro games. There is such a broad range of games both new and old that anyone who draws the line at a certain point of time doesn't have a full understanding of the medium.

If you're talking about racers for N64 I think Snowboard Kids 2 has the best personality and really stands out.
