  1. A bit of controller info for the NT Mini: The Raphnet NES to SNES adapter works great. A SNES controller with that adapter allows full control over the Mini. All of the buttons map correctly. A2600 supercharger, Colecovision and the other cores work just fine.
  2. I played for a bit tonight. Couldn't come close to my high score so far. I like this format so far. 1 game per week is perfect for me. Often, A2600 HSC gets too involved with multiple games per week. I can't keep up sometimes with the game of life going on.
  3. 31090. That's all for tonight. Not sure how much better I'm going to get. Some heavy hitters in here for this game. You guys are crushing it!
  4. Fast Food, Fast Eddie, Worm War 1, Quadrun, Beamrider, Scramble, Night Driver, Enduro. If there are repeat or popular games, maybe different or more difficult game modes, like with Space Invaders.
  5. 26930 Bridge 15. Thats all I have for the night. It may be my nostalgia or rose tinted glasses, but I still like the A2600 better. This CV version seems faster and smoother to me though.
  6. 17550. My first time playing the CV version and spending some time with it. It's always been the 2600 version with me for some reason. Also, I believe it was the first time I got shot by a tank in River Raid!
  7. 14190 and I released the dog once! I'm done with this. Now if I could only get that jingle out of my head! Haha! Onto River Raid.
  8. 10590 I've had several games where I only needed 1 more hit on the fence to release the dog. That's my goal now.
  9. That stupid jingle!! And my deteriorating reflexes. Having to change the color of the flipper to the ever-changing color of the ball wrecks me!
  10. I received my adapters on Friday 2/14. I did test and play my 4 Master System games with the "My Card" adapter. It worked great. I woke up the next day and read Analogue's email about the defective Game Gear adapter. Fortunately I don't have any Game Gear Games. I was planning to hit up my local retro game stores over the weekend for a few token GG games. I'm still going to do that. At least Analogue admitted there was a problem and is going to take care of it. Its going to take some time to get this sorted out. They are a small company and don't move very fast. Compound that with how the corona virus is affecting manufacturing and production for all businesses in China. This may take a while to get rectified. I suspect the Pocket will also be delayed because of the corona virus issues in China. Analogue isn't a huge corporation, so as long as they continue to communicate and take care of the problem, I am fine with it. Everyone should be in "Hurry up and Wait" mode for the time being. Gonna need your patience. Time to squelch.
  11. I've played a bit in the A2600 HSC, so I am familiar with the format, I think. With a much smaller game pool to choose from, I'm sure repeats happen more frequently. I'll just give it a shot and play whatever is decided upon.
  12. The Colecovision guys here at Atariage did this project. The roms are dumped properly and all work on the NT Mini. Read through the .pdf. A lot of good info.
  13. The original 8bitdo controller that came with the NT Mini was first generation and the d-pad was garbage. Analogue would likely sell an 8bitdo controller separately. The interwebs would melt down because the first two runs of NT Minis came with controllers. It wouldn't affect sales. Analogue's later offerings (SNT and MGG) didn't come with controllers. They had to be purchased separately. Besides, who doesn't have a bunch of NES controllers laying around?
  14. Here is my perspective from a business point of view: Analogue never officially announced the Analogue 8 system. It is just a trademark registration and didn't cost much, if anything. They don't have to do anything with it and it doesn't mean much at this point. If this petition is real and the response from Analogue is real, it is free market research. They would be gauging demand. If there is demand for another NT Mini run and it happens, I don't believe an announcement of another new Analogue system will be related to a less expensive NT Mini/NES. Analogue has already done the NES twice (Original NT & NT Mini). A 3rd run of the NT Mini is probably less expensive and more profitable compared to new engineering, tooling, manufacturing and programming costs for another new NES system. But who knows, this petition could just be some major trolling.
  15. I believe the Turbo Grafx-16 failed in the U.S. for 3 reasons, which are all related and over simplified below: 1) Marketing. NEC didn't have the budget or allocate the funds to go up against Nintendo and Sega in the U.S. 2) Failure to bring games over from Japan. There were so many great games that never made it to the States or weren't released at the same time in the U.S. as they were in Japan. NEC never opened the flood gates. 3) Nintendo's iron fist policy of not allowing 3rd party NES developers to release their games on other consoles, at least in the U.S. Nintendo was sued over this and lost. The timing of the Turbo Graxf-16 release in the U.S. when this was going on may have had something to do with so few games being released. The Master System was a failure in the U.S. due to Nintendo's monopolistic practices. Sega had to publish virtually every Master System game because of this. When 3rd party developers were allowed to release games on other systems, the Genesis was the main beneficiary of this. The Genesis was able to directly compete with NES/SNES because 3rd parties now had a way of making more money on other systems besides Nintendo's. Nintendo finally had competition in the U.S. and Sega was there to trade punches. For whatever reason, NEC and its 3rd party developers did not take advantage. We did not know it at the time, but the Turbo-Grafx was dead on the vine the moment it was released in the U.S.
  16. To me, that would defeat the point of opening up the Pocket for devs. I wouldn't want to see it become regulated. The cream will always rise to the top. The Mister project does fine without regulation. I would like to see a small, free software dev kit or set of tools from Analogue. That way the devs will know how to interact with it initially. After that, it should be wide open.
  17. I believe Vanfanel does make a valid point. The Genesis had color limitations compared to the SNES, so dithering was used to compensate quite often. Those artifacts are very apparent to me when playing the Mega SG via HDMI. I even see it with a model 1 Genesis via component on a CRT with HD retrovision cables. The SNES used dithering, but sparingly compared to the Genesis. It is something that is important to me, as the games do not look like they were intended. I think may people overlook this for whatever reason. Kevtris did address it by offering the ability to adjust the dithering setting, but it isn't perfect and mileage varies per game. I am hoping this can be fixed with the Analogue DAC on a CRT. Does it need to be updated or fixed? Does this mean the MegaSG isn't reference quality? I don't know, but it is a minor flaw and valid constructive criticism. It could be a lot of work for little return and not worth the time investment to fix. Nothing to dissuade me from Analogue and Kevtris. Here is a great article about composite video and blending written by Great Hierophant: https://nerdlypleasures.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-case-for-composite.html
  18. Technically correct, but not the point of my original post. The Intellivision is part of what I consider the the pre-NES/classic era of consoles, however that is broken down. It seems some of the problem with this thread is defining what systems are part of what generation. In my above post, I listed the systems I consider part of the era I think is best, including some 8-bit handhelds. The Intellivision is not included, but is a system fit to duke it out with its contemporaries.
  19. What a bunch of fence sitters in this thread! Just answer the question and pick one! ? For me its the 16-bit Generation of consoles or whatever you want to call it (In the U.S. - Genesis, SNES, Neo Geo, Turbo-Grafx, Game Boy, Game Gear). Everything before it was the foundation for what I consider the greatest era of gaming. It was a time of refinement and innovation. A lot of timeless classics and all time greats came from this period. The pinnacle of 2d gaming. Just my 2 cents
  20. Not necessarily the best, but these are my favorites, ones that I have the most nostalgia for. Thunder Force 3 Steel Empire Phelios I also like Twin Cobra a lot. Its a really good arcade port. I have the Jamma board for that game too. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it since I got it off of ebay in 2009. I played a lot of Task Force Harrier and Gaiares when they first came out.
  21. Thanks everyone for all of your hard work. This set works great on the Analogue NT Mini and the Analogue Mega SG.
  22. Incorrect. The NT Mini, Super NT, and Mega SG are Analogue's trifecta of retro console gaming. Some would have the Mister project with the DE10 Nano board in there, but it is not a plug and play device like the other consoles mentioned. The Super NT is the real spiritual successor to the NT Mini. The are all made by the same company. Analogue has trademarked the name "Analogue 8" during 2019. Speculation is that soon, Analogue will release this console and that it will contain some form of FPGA NES. The AVS is still the most affordable FPGA option for the NES. The AVS reviewed well and many who own it are happy with it. Check out ebay for used prices.
