Absolutely no reason...you know other than being honest with your customers. Lying via omission is still lying. There is a good section of buyers who are expecting at least a SNES core, and if it doesn't have one, original hardware with an ossc is still a better option. Lying to those people so they end up buying something they don't want isn't exactly sound business policy. That being said all signs point to the release of cores, so this will all be a mute point then.
Really? What signs? What misinformation are you referring to? As far as any of us know, word is mum about Super NT cores.
Kevtris spoiled all of us with the free cores for the NT Mini. Lets not take that for granted and expect it to continue. I for one am very thankful. He deserved to be compensated for the years of work he put into the cores for the NT Mini. He didn't ask for a penny. No Patreon. No nothing. I would have gladly donated or paid for each core that he released. He has his reasons for not charging, and to that I say thank you Kevin!
Now with the new Super NT, it seems to me there is an expectation that Kevtris will release cores. This is wrong. I bought the Super NT as the ultimate SNES clone and so should have everybody else. Kevtris and Analogue don't owe an explanation about cores to anyone. On top of that there are serious legal reasons why Analogue cannot market plans about releasing cores for the Super NT. Just because the NT Mini received free cores, that does not mean the new Super NT is going to receive them too. There isn't any information correlating that. Just a wrongful sense of entitlement and taking someone's hard work for granted. Enjoy the Super NT for what it is and stop expecting something for nothing. If we get cores, then be grateful and thankful. But don't expect them.

Good for you guys that figured out Real Sports Football, but for the life of me, I can't complete a pass. This game is terrible and not worth the time and effort today. If I get back to it and score a touchdown, I'll post, but don't count on it. I'm done "Programming Plays." My time will be going into Beamrider this week.

A lot of people like the Cirka S91 for the SNES. I never had one, but I ended up buying the newer wired Hyperkin SNES Scout. I run that through a Raphnet SNES to NES adapter to play on the NT Mini. It is a bit lighter than an OEM SNES controller, but is just as responsive. It has a slightly different feel but I actually like it better than an old OEM controller. It is my daily driver for the NT Mini and SNES. I've replaced the rubber contact pads on numerous old OEM controllers with various results. At this point I prefer to buy new 3rd party controllers. I am also a big fan of the Hyperkin GN6 for the Sega Genesis. I think it is one of the best reproduction controllers for any system. It is inexpensive, responsive and almost exactly like an OEM. I swear they are made from the same molds as the originals.
I also tried the Hyperkin NES Cadet. I didn't like the D-Pad at all. However, the board from an OEM controller will fit in the Cadet casing. I did that swap and it is great. A Frankenstein, but another new favorite and daily driver. I really like the feel of the Cadet controller/shell much better than an original NES controller.
If I feel the need for a joystick, I have the 8bitdo N30. I swapped the original joystick with a Seimitsu LS-32 and swapped the buttons for Sanwas. If I use this on the NT Mini, I need to update the receiver's firmware to the latest. Can't use the NT Mini firmware for the receiver. It won't pair. Some of the button mappings are off, but I've never had any problems using it for Colecovision, A2600, Master System or NES so far. It works well on the SNES, but unfortunately not for SFII. If I wanted to, I could physically swap the wiring of a few buttons to map them properly to the SNES. The N30 is actually a USB/bluetooth stick designed for the Switch, Android, Windows and macOS, not our retro systems.

Yes, us, the niche group. But if Analogue wants to reach the open seas of the everyday market and going from sales in the thousands to hundreds of thousands then they shouldn't do silly things like restrict abilities that their hardware has to sell maybe 1 or 2 more consoles to the niche group when they could sell so many more to the everyday group.
Difference of opinion. We will have to agree to disagree.

Blah....Blah.....Blah........Blah.
Everybody is way too far down in the weeds on this issue of "cores." I could care less at this point. This thread is such a dumpster fire. We here in this forum thread are a niche and a small fragment of the market. Analogue is trying to push beyond niche. The NT Mini is great, and I hope the Super NT lives up to the advertising. Bottom line, I will likely be purchasing Analogue's new products/systems as they are released, especially if they are at the right price point. I suspect most of you will too.

People, the Super NT does not equal the Zimba 3000. I am buying the Super NT as the ultimate SNES system. I am also looking forward to pairing it with Analogue's DAC. If the Super NT is a success according to Analogue's standards, I'll be looking forward to their next system, whatever and whenever that may be. Jailbreak firmware and "The Core Store" are gravy and do not matter to me at this point. In order for Analogue to survive and make new products, we need to spend our money with them so they and invest in R&D. I do not believe Analogue will allow the release of any cores for systems that are part of their future business plans. Its simply Business 101. Hyperkin, AtGames, Retro-Bit etc. all iterate and release different retro systems on a timeline. I hope Analogue is doing something similar with their higher end FPGA business model. When that is all done, then I'd like to see Kevtris release the Zimba 300, the ultimate all in one retro console.

Didn't expect to see this so soon with the Feb 7th embargo...Super Nt unboxing: https://youtu.be/NoygP7_N3Zk?t=13m10s (starts at 13:10)Also, this is the first footage of the Classic model, which I think looks great.edit: video was just removed, possibly because it broke the embargo
I was in the middle of watching the video at the moment it was taken down! I didn't see what the big deal was. He just took it out of the box and showed it to the camera. He also unboxed the matching 8bitdo controller. He didn't give any opinions. Not really any different than others showing pictures on social media.

Which position do you put the switches in for "Fun?"

Ha! So it's not even a real enhancement chip, just something byuu made up. I checked the wikipedia "list of snes enhancement chips" page only to find it isn't mentioned. I suppose there are reasonably affordable repro pbcs (besides sd2snes) utilizing this chip? After all, homebrew flash mappers for nes are a thing. If mot, one could argue it's not a real chip, exists only in emulation, and therefore doesn't exist.
You don't even have your facts straight about MSU-1, evidenced by your last 2 posts. Then you post like you have authority based on your false assumptions. Even Kevtris has corrected you because of this. You have an opinion like everyone else and it is ok to share it, but please get your facts straight.

I have my NT Mini hooked via RGB -> SCART -> OSSC - LG 65C6P. Now the OSSC is known to have problems with some displays but my tv has played nice with all modes and consoles up until this. When I turn on the NT Mini i can see the menu show up for a split second but it disappears and will randomly show up again for fractions of a second.
You seem to have quite a bit going on there. I understand you have a lot invested in gear to get analogue retro systems looking good on modern LCD/OLED televisions. I would want to use it all too considering the money invested. There are quite a few variables to troubleshoot your issue hooking up the NT Mini that way. With the nice high end flat panel television you have, may I ask why you aren't hooking the NT Mini via HDMI? The HDMI output of the NT Mini makes RGB/SCART and the OSSC obsolete for that type of television. With HDMI, the NT Mini should have a better picture on that television with less or no lag. You would then be able to maximize the number of adjustments you can make within the NT Mini's settings.

With Analogue tweeting about the DAC, that was enough to get me to pre-order a Super NT. It looks like they have the right guy working on it. I also like that the DAC will be compatible with Analogue's future systems. Now, I'm in "Hurry Up and Wait" mode!

Wow! Oyama is taking it easy out of the gate! I guess this is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm sure he will be around at the end.

They coming out with Bluetooth Genesis, Satun and Dreamcast Controllers
I really hope they on par with the 8bitdo Contollers
I am also interested in the licensed Sega controllers. However I'm cautiously optimistic. Some of the Hyperkin and 8bitdo retro controllers are good. I hope that the Retrobit Sega controllers will also be serviceable.

Never played the 2600 version before. It seems most of the main elements are there. It is a bit sluggish and the control leaves a little to be desired. I'm not a fan of how the enemies respawn when you are at the edges of the screen. I am having fun with it and enjoying the competition aspect with the HSC.

FPGA Based Videogame System
in Classic Console Discussion

This thread did it a long time ago.
