No. But... all they really need is cleaning. A pencil eraser can do that. A more permanent fix is to place a metallic coating on the buttons' carbon dots. I've seen rear windshield defroster repair kits recommended for this sort of thing, but I've never seen the kits, so... The CHEAP way to fix it is gluing foil to the dots. The EASY way is buying the gold-plated buttons from Best Electronics. Are the controllers hard to take apart, or do you need to in order to place the metallic coating on the button's carbon dots? How about using cleaning with the eraser, or putting in those gold-plated buttons? Also, are there any online stores that sell 5200 controllers that have been "fixed" with new buttons or metallic coating?? Best Electronics: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/5200.htm 4Jays: http://4jays.net/store//page75.html Others are able to take the controllers apart and put them back together. I haven't been able to. Excellent; thanks for the links!

Question for those who have been to the CGE...
ataridave replied to ataridave's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nice, thanks for the info! Do they have any coin-op machines of classic games? I've still never played Robotron with double joysticks, and I'd really like to! Oh, yes. Classic arcade machines should be lining the walls yet again. In years past there'd be upwards of 40 machines up and running. Here are some links to photo galleries from 1999 to 2005 (the last one held). These should give you plenty of ideas on what to expect: http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge99/index.htm http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k/index.htm http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k1/index.htm http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k2/ http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k3/ http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k4/ http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k5/index.htm Excellent, thanks again!! -

I think that the list of vendors this year looks great, and would love to go! However, do you actually get to try out games at the CGE, with the various vendors? I'd love to play the Vectrex, Astrocade, and Intellivision-I know there's emualtors for all of those systems, but it's just not the same as getting some "hands on" time with them.

Worried about all the buttons on the 5200 controllers!...
ataridave replied to ataridave's topic in Atari 5200
I too am an Amiga gamer!! I would LOVE to hook up one of these. Or a Y connector with a GC or PS2 connector on one end and a keypad on the other! It wasn't made by Commodore, I just know that's white and red, about the size of the 2600 Joystick. Thanks for the info on the buttons. But, what about the analog sticks failing? Is there any way around that? And, OT, how about the buttons on the Colecovision-same deal? -
Analog woes aside, controllers with that many buttons intimidate me! How often do you have to use them? I know that there is an Amiga joystick that you can use with the 5200 that just has one button, so maybe you don't use them a lot. But I would like to get a 5200, and this is a concern for me.

How do I get in contact with OSG? I couldn't find a listing on this forum for anyone with that username, and I tryed Old School Gamer, as well. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be cheaper just to buy a modded Flashback 2. Couldn't play 7800 games on it, but that would be fine with me. If you just need a 2600 with AV attachments, you could buy the part from 8bitDomain www.8bitdomain.com That mod is completely solderless and looks incredibly easy compared to the 7800 mod. I was just hoping to avoid having to pay triple shipping to end up with a modded 7800 (1st ship to me, then to OSG, and then back to me again.) GAH!, you expect me to install this?!: http://www.8bitdomain.com/proddetail.php?prod=av7800 Way to many wires and parts. I don't see any online instructions either, which would be nice for people to see before purchasing one of these kits.

Just sent him a message; thanks!!

How much would it cost for me to get my 7800 modded for AV?...

Ok, thanks, I left a message on there! -

True, but I may have to sell my 7800, then. Unless I could have someone here install it that kit (I wouldn't be able to if it requires any soldiering); S+H wouldn't be bad on the 7800, as it's actually pretty light. -
How do you download something onto a Jaguar?? I mean, it's not like the 360 or Wii or PS3. That movie looks SWEEEET! Pac-Mania is my favorite game in the Pac-Man series. (Although I would still like to play Pac-Man VR: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...mp;game_id=8960 )
-
Where can I get a copy-or is it only a downloadable file??
-
http://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/ There's a screen of it on this page, the bottom line of the screenshots. Is this an unlockable, because I've never heard of a stand-alone Pac-Man title for the Jag.

Looking for some footage of Blue Lightning...

That would rock, thanks! Is Myst on the Jaguar a complete port of the PC original? I know that in the PS1 port, they took out some stuff. -

Very nice! The CD-ROM add-on is pretty expensive on Ebay, but I've heard that it's very durable compared to other CD-ROM systems released at that time. -
Hooking it up in composite probably wouldn't work anyways... remember all the problems I had trying to hook that PAL CD32 up to a 1084S? An NTSC 1084S can't handle a PAL color signal through composite or the luma/chroma inputs, so you'd just get black and white. The 128k+2 models have an RGB socket, I just haven't had the time or knowledge to make a proper cable to connect mine to my 1084 monitor. I picked up a bunch of random (some of them homemade) cables in a Commodore lot I bought a couple of years ago, and one of them actually connects between the Speccy and 1084 and provides a B+W picture. Unfortunately I'm so technologically incompetent (actually, it's more laziness than anything else) that I haven't taken the project further. Here are a couple of pics... Is the monitor on the right an NTSC 1084? I can't tell if it's a color picture or not.

An NTSC 1084S can't handle a PAL color signal through composite or the luma/chroma inputs, so you'd just get black and white. Remowilliams mentioned using SCART though, which apparently IS available on the 128K Spectrum models (Not sure about Amstrad models). As far as I know, this SHOULD work and still give a color image on an NTSC 1084S without any trouble. --Zero Thanks for all that info! But what about plug/outlet issues? I got an Asian PSTwo once, and it came with a "British" plug, that did not fit my outlet. I was able to go to Radio Shack and get a proper cord for it, but this does concern me. Also, is SCART a program, or an actual cartridge?

Footage of Jag. CD games is very hard to find. I did, however, find these Jag. promotional videos!: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...p;search=Search Very cool stuff! I must say that I'm pretty impressed with the sound on the Jaguar! BTW, can you use AV cables on it? Most of the games look excellent! -
If someone would be willing to put up some footage of this game, that would rock! I'd love to see it in action!
