  1. Do you guys know if an Official NES Cleaning Kit would work on the NEX? The system itself isn't dirty, but there are a couple of NES games I have trouble starting up (and they're not ones that aren't compatible with the NEX), and I'd like to get a NES Cleaning Kit to clean them with. AFIK, the cartridge cleaner that comes with the Kit gets both top and bottom connectors at the same time. I've tried everything else with these games; I even bought some DEOXIT at Radio Shack last weekend, and cleaned 'em with that and it didn't help.
  2. watch the video, it plays both NES and Famicom games, so I popped in my FDS and played. I thought that the FDS plugged into the bottom of a Famicom, not the top? How did you manage that?? Nope, heres a pic. http://www.n-sider.com/media/database-hard...isksystem01.jpg the ram cart plugs in the cartrige port. TIGHT!! Now I'm REALLY glad I have a NEX! I'll have to get an FDS for it; thanks for sharing!

  4. I used to LOVE playing this game when we had our Mac Plus; I loved sinking enemy ships! So, I am looking for a console game similar to this one. I played some Pirates! Gold on a Genesis emulator, but, even though I liked the game quite a bit, you really don't get to do a lot of shooting. Looting, which is fun, is the name of the game, not sinking ships. Any suggestions?
  5. How can the Generation NEX play FDS games?
  6. My own experience has been that any NES hardware, whether original or a clone, will still have plenty of problems, compared with other systems of it's era. I NEVER had to have my Genesis cleaned when I was a kid, and I don't have half the number of problems running cartridges on my Genesis 2 or my moddes SNES as I do on my Messiah Generation NEX. It's a solid system; the main problem being that you can't wiggle around a cartridge to get it to work better. But I have had cleaned cartridges that won't work on it that that will work on the FC Twin. The bottom line is that you're going to have issues with whatever NES-type hardware that you choose to purchase. Game Force uses the FC Twin to let people try out NES and SNES games, and they probably have less problems with it then with the original NES.
  7. Or is there just not a homebrew scene for either of these two consoles? I realize that a NES or Genesis game would be more expensive then games on older consoles, like the 2600, but I'd love to know if any of this is going on.
  8. Ok, thanks for the suggestions! Do any of these sites cover Famicom games?
  9. I am thankful for all of the Atari 2600 homebrews that are available on this site, but I really wish that 2600 Tempest would get a release. Is anyone working on this?? That would rock!
  10. I'm sure there are plenty, but I'm looking for the best, most comprehensive NES forums on the net.
  11. Through a trade with someone on another site, I got Encounter At L-5. So, I plugged some paddle controllers, which looked like they were in good shape. The fire button works, but the paddle won't move the ship. (And I've tried both paddles.) Is it a problem with the paddle controller or the game? Because I tried using my modded NES controller with the game, and same thing-the ship wouldn't move; just fire. Unfortunately I have no other paddle 2600 games to try this out on.
  12. Will do; thanks! Does it sound like there's anything wrong with my 7800? It runs all the 7800 games that you mentioned in their proper colors. Again, I hope I have not offended anyone; my intention was never to do so.
  13. I love my 7800 too, and that's why I'm concerned. This is a fairly new TV, we're talking less then one year old. And with the plastic pieces falling out of the console, maybe it's the 7800. It was just plastic; nothing that looked like circuitry or anything like that, though. Yeah, those pictures were probably taken with an emulator. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just want to figure out what's wrong here-particularly with the 2600 games, which are supposed to run perfectly on the 7800. Maybe I just need to get a 2600 (the one with the built in games that comes with AV) that has a cartridge slot hacked into it to play my 2600 games on. But part of the reason I got a 7800 instead was to "kill two birds with one stone", so to speak.
  14. Ok, I don't want to be known as a troll around here, but I smell a rat. After being told that green is the normal title screen for 7800 Galaga, in another thread, I checked Mobygames, a huge video game database, and found these screenshots: http://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-7800/galaga/screenshots As you can clearly see, the game's title screen is in gold, not green. Even when I emulated 2600 Galaxian, in Stella, the colors were more detailed and crisp then they are on my 7800. I don't know if all of this is because my 7800, which I bought from someone on this site, might be damaged (there were pieces of black plastic that fell out of the system as I was unwrapping it), if I need to get it modded for AV output, or just get a 2600 with a cartridge slot hacked into it, but something's got to be wrong here.
  15. I'd love to buy Vault Assault and some other 2600 Homebrew games from the Atari Age Store, but I'm worried that they won't work on my 7800.
  16. Yeah, that site is fantastic! This one is pretty good: http://www.pcenginefx.com/main/index.html Everything you ever wanted to know about NEC consoles, plus some great Japanese TV ads!
  17. http://www.archive.org/details/games2 Awesome stuff! I spent a lot of time playing Beyond Dark Castle, and I never knew about that helicopter game for the Mac!
  18. Ok, thanks for the info, everyone! Too bad Nintendo didn't do as well with Donkey Kong-GB Donkey Kong has all 4 levels, and you can unlock the original arcade game in DK 64, but even with the Wii Virtual Console they STILL didn't include all 4 levels.
  19. I read that the NES version is missing a stage (or stages) with icicles, and, as this is still my favorite Mario game, I was wondering if the 7800 is more complete then the NES port. I gave it a go on Prosystem, and it plays great (as does the 2600 port).
  20. This PS1 is will play ALL imports and is complete with AV cables, power cord, and one original PS1 controller (not the Dualshock). It is in EXCELLENT physical condition and works perfectly. Right now, I can ship to anywhere in the US, but that's it. In terms of price; I'm looking for some offers. I have no interest in trading this console, unless anyone has a complete Genesis Model 1, also in excellent condition, that they'd be willing to trade for it.
  21. Are you certain? It shows up gold on Prosystem but not on my Atari 7800. I just want to make sure that there's nothing wrong with my 7800.
  22. Not that it's THAT big of deal, but when I played this game on Prosystem emulator, I got a nice shiny gold logo, and on my 7800 it's bright green! Everything else looks normal, though, so what gives??
  23. So, would I have to get emulator's running on a G4 to run the older Mac games? An LCIII souns like a cheaper option then getting something with a G4. OT, if it ever gets released, this game would be enough to make me want to get a Mac!: http://www.zsculpt.com/website/games/darkcastle3/
  24. Sure, anything that can run Classic should be able to run the old black and white games in a small b&w window. Crystal Quest has different modes depending on your hardware. I used to run it on an old SE, which is basically a souped-up Mac Plus Great, so would that be like a Mac LC, or something? I just remember that was the first color Mac that I ever used.
