It started for me back when I was about 8 or 9 (in 94 or 95) and I read a review of Alien vs. Predator. This was a couple of years before I would play a ps1 or own an N64 so I was incredibly impressed by the screenshots. I remember the reviewer saying something like, "Alien vs. Predator is so good that it's almost a good enough reason to own a jaguar...almost". I knew I wouldn't be able to get a jaguar just for Alien vs. Predator, but I kept it in mind until I finally could get one.
Fast forward to 2003 when I found someone on ign's trading boards (yeah, looking back that was a really pathetic place to trade) who was selling one for cheap ($70 with a bunch of games). I bought it and loved Tempest 2000, Alien Vs. Predator, Iron Soldier and Doom out of the games I got.
I traded my jag away several years ago and have been considering getting another one just so I can finally play Tempest 2000 with a rotary controller. Since there is all of this work being done on getting Breakout 2000 to have rotary controller functionality, maybe I'll wait around until that becomes a reality.
By the way, for those of you discussing which Wolfenstein version is best... The 3do's version is actually by far the best Wolfenstein. It has incredibly good sound (the music and sound effects are very crisp and high quality), solid framerate, and I believe it has bigger sprites than the other versions. It's the only cd version of the game ever released (unless there's one that I missed in my search), which explains the better sound. Here's a video of it:

Now I'm not an expert on Atari prices, but I think this might be a *little* high.

Jag Rules!http://www.atariage.com/features/philly_20...JagVR_thumb.jpg
So can you use this with Missile Command 3d or any other games? If so, how well does it work? Is the screen pretty low-res compared to a standard tv?

Oh I didn't realize that Jaguars were so cheap these days; That's pretty reasonable. I definitely see no way that they'll get nearly what they're asking...from craigslisters at least :-p.
-
Is this reasonably priced or too expensive? I'm not up on all of the Jaguar game prices these days and was just curious (I don't have 200 bucks to spend on a Jag anyway :-p). This is located in Denver if anyone in the area is interested. Also, he has a huge turbografx lot for $500 which has a turbo duo, turbo cd, and turbo express and 50 games.

To me it looks like these prices are too high since 1. These are bundles and 2. It's on craigslist :-p.

I found this on Craigslist. It has got to be THE deal of the century. It's one of those ultra-rare 4 switchers with a "joystick and wire. " It also comes with Pac-Man and Space Invaders, two of the most sought after "holy grail" games of all time. Seriously. I need this.Um, it's only $500? You can't afford NOT to buy this. I honestly don't understand how you're still sleeping at night :-\.

If you want to use a 2600 joystick for the computer, get the stelladaptor USB adaptor and an authentic 2600 stick.I think I'd rather go this route because he wouldn't need an X-Arcade stick; just something more simple. Thanks for the info.

My dad's birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. His favorite game of all time is Q-Bert and his only complaint with it was that "you spend an hour getting to that really hard level then you only have about 30 seconds to try it before you die and have to start over again". I'd like to help him out with that and am thinking that I should get him some sort of usb joystick along with MAME and very detailed instructions on how to get it working, save games, load games, etc.
So my question is what would you guys recommend as far as joysticks go? He liked the 2600 controller; it seemed like he probably played that version of Q-Bert a whole lot more since it was cheaper in the long run. Something similar to the 2600 controller would be the best in my opinion.
I also thought about getting him one of those plug and play games with it on it (I'm pretty sure there's a Q-Bert one at least), but that all goes back to the problem of not being able to save.
Thanks for your help.

That looks like a good lot. I would recommend opening that sucker up though and making a list of the games. The first thing I look at when I see a lot is what games it comes with.
-
I don't get it. all auctions have RF switches, and power supplies. Yet they are "as-is"? Do they work or not?Yeah I know it's like the people who sell jamma arcade boards as "untested". So uh, do you no longer have an arcade machine or what? That always annoys me as well.

Hey everybody, I've been amassing games over the past couple of years and am now finally organized and ready to trade.
First off, I don't have much feedback anywhere (but I've done tons of trading), so I'm willing to send first provided you have at least a little bit of credible feedback.
Second, I'm mostly looking for games for SNES and Genesis. However, if you've got a list of everything you're willing to trade go ahead and post it and I'll take a look.
Third, I'm a huge fan of platform shooters such as Contra, Vectorman, Turrican, etc, and also of top-down shooters such as Ikari Warriors. Also, I like games like Wild Guns, Blood Brothers, Cabal, GI Joe (arcade), I don't know what to call them (back-perspective 2d shooters?). Smoking Muzzle, sorry you had such a letdown! I could tell you were really excited.
This is somewhat off-topic, but I couldn't bear to start a new topic about the same game. I found a cheap Lynx on craigslist and will get it if it's still available. I've known for a while that there's the AvP prototype for the lynx and knew if I ever got a lynx I'd have to get one... So I just wanted to ask, I saw that the alien isn't playable in the prototype, but that's not such a big deal since the "real game" was the marine game anyway. My question is this: Is the marine game complete? Can you play from beginning to end? Or do you just kinda wander around and wish that Rebellion finished the game? Any help is appreciated.

Hey everybody,
I recently picked up Donkey Kong Country as part of a lot of SNES games and absolutely loved it. Couldn't put it down until I beat it a week or two later(long game for SNES!). Anyway, now I gotta play the sequels. Does anybody have these for sale or trade? I've got a whole bunch of SNES games I could trade; I'll have to make a list once I get home tonight. The one I know I can trade is F-Zero since I have 2 of those.
Anyway, let me know if you have either or both of these games and if you'd rather trade or sell.
Thanks,
Adam

Soldering directly to batteries is a Bad Idea™ There's info in this thread about ordering pre welded tabbed batteries, which is the right thing to do.Ah thanks for the redirect. I tried to do a search for similar topics first but didn't find any. People were talking about the same thing as recent as 2 weeks ago!
-
Thanks for the advice. I borrowed a soldering iron from my girlfriend's dad so I'm going to give this a shot. Hopefully it works out!
-
I recently bought Super Metroid for SNES and found that after a few days my save had been erased. I've read in the past that the cartridge games that allowed saving used some sort of battery that only worked for 10,000 hours or so. It seems as though it has used all its juice. Is this replaceable? I'd rather fix the game than have to get another one.
Thanks for your help.

Tempest, you rock, thank you. I didn't think it was so obscure that it was unfindable!

Hi everybody,
I played a really cool arcade game at a hockey arena a while back called Loki. I believe it's from 1983 and was only released in the arcade form. You were a gorilla who spit fireballs or threw coconuts or something along those lines. It was kinda cross between Adventure Island and Contra since it was a lot of shooting stuff, but you also had a lot of running, jumping, platforms, trampolines, that kinda stuff.
Is this game really obscure? I can't find any information about it online. I really want to play the rom on MAME but I can't get it to work. Does anybody have a working version? Any help is appreciated.
Adam
P.S. If the mention of the rom is frowned upon here then I'd be happy to edit it out.
