picked up Taito legends and found a game that I never played before, is that possible?

I've been playing a lot of "Shadow Dancer" on the Genesis lately. I have beaten this game... once. And I'm having trouble doing it again. The final boss and his army of grey ninjas makes Jaquio from "Ninja Gaiden" look like a pansy. You can get to him with 20 lives and quickly burn through them.
