I wish I could, but I only have a CD that works for PCs without Windows. I installed Win95C because it was actually faster for what I was doing at the time. Now it's becoming a problem qhwn everyone moved to VS2008... -_-

I have been using Z26 for some time, but since the bump in versions, I haven't been able to run the newer versions of z26 (they simply crash quietly, is this a bug? I don't know) So I've been looking tirelessly for an Emulator out there that runs in DOS/Win95 that can run the newer bankswitching methods (like Boulderdash uses) and So far I've turned up nothing. Any ideas, or am i barking up the wrong tree? For the curious, I am running a P200 w/ MMX Tech and for the most part, every 8-bit emulator I have has been pretty good on here. It's mostly for fun ( and because it has TV out, it's perfect for emulators of old stuff)

Sorry for bumpin this, but the start music is pretty bad. how much space is there around that music that can be tweaked a bit? I know a hack by El Destructo that pretty much had the music down. I don't know where to track that hack down, but with that addition, this hack would be pretty much perfect.

You know you'd win in my book if you made a hack that removed all the wasted time in battles. it took so long to cast spells that affected a lot of enemies (like sleeping for example).

I wouldn't say that! Ideas are what drives a good inventor, not capital. However, If you could hack up a quick concept using Java or some other BASIC language, that always helps.

Boo, that's a downer. Maybe there's something in future that will play it.

I'm going to say that's a hack, or a bootleg. Since they showed Quadrun on there though, I'm not too sure. Quadrun is VERY rare, why would they show *that* game?

Ooohhh I've been wanting one, but since I dunno if certain games will work (a lot of games I had used memory mappers and such). I played Kirby's Super Star consistently after school, so Iwould love to know if it plays!

I think a major problem was just human nature. Let me expand that point: After going through my collection this year (I have 3 huge suitcases worth of them) I have come to the conclusion that what separated the golden nuggets from the trash is how generic it is. How many generic shooters do you know of? And how many of those are from companies that cashed in at the height of the craze? DO this little experiment. If you have time, and a bunch of roms (I know you dooooo) just load up stella and play some random crap. What you'll notice is that there are a lot of good games, but even more crappier games. Then start tallying them up by company. Even Laser Blast, as monotonous as it gets, still has an interesting charm to it. That's why I love Activision so much: When they went for a generic genre that's been played out even in 1982, they'd always add a "twist" to the gameplay to make it fun and new. Lots of crappy companies seeing the game craze as a potential cash cow put absolutely zero effort into making memorable games. And even Atari made some good ones. ET, while annoying, still has a bit of a "soul" to it. It's something new, something that hadn't really been done before. I can't say that for some generic platformer junk like "Challenge" or "Zoo Fun", which the latter is so cryptic even I can't figure it out now. And my mother said it best: "We had been ripped off so many times by games that we didn't want to buy any more."

Mum and Dad bought me an Atari Flashback 3 as a Christmas/graduation present. I know that it was primarily bought as a way of making amends with Dad. He loves playing 2 player asteroids and Air-Sea Battle, and since I have the consoles at my house, this was a way for me to quickly bond with him after all these college years. Thing is, it's being a bit finicky. Video Checkers is a nightmare to get working, and I still haven't figured it out. Is it really that more complex than Activision Checkers? The major problem so far is that some games tend to "hang" and crash the system. Video Pinball and the monster variations of starship will crash the system upon starting, the latter a little less predictably. The only remedy I've found is to simply restart the system, or to start Video Pinball before attractive mode starts to cycle into the dark brown and greys. If I don't, half the screen turns into vertical lines of garble. Has anyone else seen this? I can't seem to "fix" this. Do I have a defective console?

sheeeeeesh! I HAVE ONE OF THOSE! Holy moley I didn't know they were rare! I had a small sheet taped to the side of the TV on which cart was which. Hell I even remember the list: 1:combat (friends only) 2:space invaders 3:pitfall! 4:Chopper Command 5:missile command (would always get these confused, maybe shoudl ahve put them further apart) 6. Super breakout (twisties) 7. tennis 8. Pac-man There was something on pac-man on how many times to flick the game select (to make it somewhat of a challenge) If I wanted to play a different game, like centipede, or asteroids, I had to ask dad. he never wanted to keep the carts in the area where the monitor was (Kitchen ) Now that I think about it, calling the paddle controllers "twisties" is kinda lame, but I was a little kid at the time. Thing is, I still call them that. Note to self: Keep track of your damn collection! note: I also remember some games refusing to work with this thing at all. iird Raiders of the Lost ark and Pitfall II were among those. All the original Atari run carts would work, however.

The only way to solve that is if someone codes a better donkey kong now. with all three screens.

I think ClassicGMR has the right idea. You can take this a bit further, and show Jr. Pacman as the post-crash game (although programmed pre-crash), and Nukey Shay's amazing Hack-Em as the showstopper. It would make for a clear progression of improved graphics as programmers learned more about the system. very good idea! I'll consider it.

I'm sure I can hook you up with a free genesis controller that is less than perfect. I don't have any up right now because the bins are at the storage unit, but I do have several hundred of those as well. AX sounds good, heh. I don't need one that's brand new out of the box, just one that works. I've been through 3 of 'em already.

Stella crashes with "Windows Mobile 6.1 April 2008" release. Bigtime. I'm able to run the software for a few seconds, and while the program is initializing, the screen turns black (as expected for the menu) but then a bright grey line shows at the top of the screen and the application crashes. I don't know how to paste the crash log or how to get around this. I have the roms in the right place... Is this a user error or is something else at play here?

I had an issue like this when my adaptor started going on the fritz. I'm sure it's been wrapped up/unwrapped and such for a good amount by now, if you have one with a really long wire like mine had. I'd try to get a replacement AC adaptor ASAP. They're kind of hard to find unless you're going for an all-in-one adaptor, which seem to break on me more often than any AC adaptor I've had.
