    I was hoping someone would do this. I was hesitant to bring it up, given that colors might have been better, but now I see it's just fine. Anyone getting vibes of the Activision prototype color game? Imagine if this was released in '83!

    My atari VCS box fell apart from dryrot, but it did NOT have the chess piece on it. Turns out some of the first runs *did*. I did not know that, but sure enough, there's a Knight on the box. My copy has what looks like some boxart.

    That's an interesting point. I mean, it did have "Computer" on the console, so shouldn't it be a computer? Kinda makes me wish the Compu-mate made it.

    Is anything but. I managed to pick up a copy of this at a local second-hand store, complete with overlays. After an hour of trying to put in an example program, I gave up in frustration. This is the most annoying thing I've ever used. And on top of that, only 9 lines of code! Is there any other trivia on this title? This seems really, really weird as an Atari release, and looked to me like a "sucker buy", that is, only suckers would buy this. Even in the old days, I don't see a reason for this title. Did Atari really have this much cash to waste on a title with such limited capability? Or did Warren Robinett convince Atari that this needed to be published, just for the laughs? But that Box art...what a beautiful lie that was. I'm such a sucker.

    To play with the full sound, you need the two audio pins on the famicom cartridge wired to the sound outpit.. it's an MMC with a built-in AY. The pins were re-worked to route to the lockout chip on the mainboard for the Western releases of the NES, but on the famicom those would connect to the sound output lines. I have heard success stories of hacking an NES to support these channels without having a degree in electronics, but for the most part, it requires some extra wires, solder and time to do this. There may be an adaptor now to solve this problem, but I haven't checked the interwebs for such a device. The ones I've seen that have Famicom capabilities are DIY-hacks at retro computing meets, and I never asked how they accomplished it. Perhaps if that guy brings it next month, I'll ask him. Edit: just now realized you ARE talking about the Top-loader. I think the top-loader lost those routes on the motherboard entirely. I'm not 100% sure on that, though.

    I've always wondered why more games didn't try that approach. given how small my TV was that I played my atari on, I would be more than happy to turn it on its side. The real problem is heat dispersion....

    I rooted my old old old smartphone and installed all new stuff on it. It's a new phone again!

      I tried putting Android 4.0 on my phone which came with 2.3, but it was way too slow, so I just went back to the stock firmware, haha.

      Well done! I put Android 4.1 (CyanogenMod) on my Samsung Galaxy S and now it works great. Will get a few more years use out of it.

    I wouldn't call it "true" per se, but there were a few warring tribes before the white men showed up. Note that there were several nations here already with a government. So I always took offence at the word "savage", when we were anything but.

    Sounds like a lot of illegal activity was going on. I wonder how many programmers weren't paid? How many were promised a lump sum for programming and didn't get it?? Thank goodness for the internet. It's harder to get away with underhanded BS like that. Carry on... EDIT: I ripped most of this post out and rewrote it.. sorry!
