  1. It's ok, You have been trolled. You haven't gotten that vibe from ZB yet? To troll ZB back, find a way to bring up "Mode 7". Works like a charm. note: i'm just picking on him. ZB is a cool dude.
  2. some stuff I'd love to see: a a starfield simulation like on Windows 3.1. screensavers rule.
  3. OMG NO! AMAZING! I forgot about batari basic! that could actually make some cool things...
  4. Display hacks! The stuff that turns your Atari and TV into a sort of pretty lava lamp. Doing nothing really productive, but still showing off. I suppose Looping demos would be on the list. Maybe I should be concerned that I could stare at a lava lamp for minutes at a time, but I really like display hacks such as the clock, Boing, and some other demoscene stuff. Anyone got any favorites? Have any of you thought of using some for a social event?
  5. ewww. That works, but i'm sure there's a better way.
  6. I still hope for a txt viewer. That way, the manuals could be read as well (like Activision anthology).
  7. Apparently I post the most at 11 PM.

  8. FarCry3: Blood Dragon is gonna rock.

  9. oh man this, I can't stop playing this now. weekend will be stormy so... woohoo!
  10. Oh, my new LCD TV can handle it, but it hates interlaced signals on the RF. I'll probably need to mod my atari soon to get rid of that.. if I can at all.
  11. hoooly crap, finally someone agrees with me. I love the music, I love the graphics, i love the way it handles. HOWEVER, I hate the way this game punishes you! It's like getting spanked with one screw-up! This is why life-bars are essential. If you're gonna do a one-hit kill, do it contra style, warp me back to where it's safest. The checkpoints were a start, but they are so sparse! And while I love the music, that 15 second loop between finding treasures can die in a tar pit. If Pitfall II had an option to turn that music off, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot better. Maybe some sound effects for the waterfalls, or enemies, and let me crank my own tunes. Jr Pac Man is one of my favorites because I love that kind of difficulty, but I would love to see a hack for Jr. Pac Man to tone down the ghost behavior, for those that want a more arcade-style of play. As it is now, Ghost-bullies come after the player like he owes them lunch money.
  12. It's where a person plays Atari games while a barbershop improv quartet sings along.
  13. Waaaah, PAL. *heart sinks to the floor* I guess I'll have to man-up and get a old Color set with V-hold controls, given the binary works on an NTSC Atari .Most do, Trilobit's doctor is the only PAL demo that won't work on NTSC that I've seen. Looking forward to seeing entries!
  14. Games like this would sell harmony carts like hotcakes. Arent they already selling like hotcakes?
  15. What angers me are publishers that are aware of demand, do nothing about it, and aggressively fight piracy of their software.
  16. I used some aluminum foil, didn't help at all. buzzing is insane on bright scenes, too. I will need to get a shielded RF cable. will a shielded composite yellow work?\
  17. I got a replacement 9V 750mA* Power supply yesterday. considering to replace the RF cable, maybe reseat the chips and see if that helps. Given that it's a specific color range for the color bleeding, would a resistor be the culprit? *AC adapter documentation claims to support any lower amperage device safely.
  18. Looks like my AC adapter wasn't so good after all! I hope I can find a replacement. Both Atari VCS units that I have suffer from the same problem, which is probably not coincidental.
  19. Slow down the paddle just a bit but have a fast paddle with the fire button. that way there is some precision, Similar to what the Activision Anthology Guys did on the GBA ports of the paddle games (But they used the shoulder buttons to do that)
  20. Some ideas if you wanna go beyond example: make the fire button move the paddle faster (like the GameBoy version of Super Breakout). Other than that, it's cool. Jittering ball was odd, but okay.
  21. I think the "unknown activision prototype #1" is a color calibration demo.

  22. Can this week be over yet?

  23. Since my first topic on this seemed to have destroyed itself (RIP), I decided to bring it up again. Okay, First off, I love my Harmony cart to death. I play it on my new LCD TV that plays interlaced modes like a champ. However, I decided to plug my VCS into my old Travel TV (color, RCA) and fire up some Enduro. I started to notice some really odd vertical lines around the road and oncoming cars. Thinking it was my TV reception, I checked all connections (I use a straight adapter, no switch) and everything seemed just fine, signal was locked in great. But every once in a while, those blasted phantom lines showed up again. Sometimes they crawl, sometimes they don't. So to see if it was my Atari, I popped in my copy of enduro and... no lines. So either this is a negligible problem caused by the current pull of the Harmony Cart, or my Atari VCS isn't firing on all cylinders. Another weird thing that happens is if I don't play the thing for a while, green colors are more "Aqua" than they are supposed to be. not annoying, but the Harmony cart menu text is a marble green, so it really stands out. After a minute or so, everything is great. The biggest problem still remains: Light blue colors are bleeding. A lot. A Photoshopped screenshot to show you what I mean: It's actually a little worse than this, the black inner line in the O characters is almost gone. Every other color, however, seems to be okay. What in the world is causing this? Some other info I can give you: This is a 4-switch woodgrain (with the 2 sprite TIA), purchased around 1982 or so for my cousin and I to play. All of the "Problem games" work as intended on the unit. It had Combat as a pack-in. The AC Adaptor is a stock Atari 2600 one that came with this unit. The case has been opened, but only for a little while to clean the inside using gentle blasts of air. the case itself was cleaned in December last year. The Game Center piece was also cleaned up recently, though the cover is always off when the unit is powered up. Any ideas?
