I loved the idea of the Nano PEB, but I was too late to the party. As consoles are fairly easy to find on EBay, but PEBs are not (well, there are a few there now that I look, at around $300), something with 32K and a DSDD controller with some type of flash drive on board would be great if it could be had for less than that. RS232 serial would be nice for transfers, though I doubt I'd ever need PIO to print from that setup. I'd go for the SD cartridge, too. Actually, if I had something like that and some type of 32K (sidecar?) that would get me "back in business."

I've been using TI Image Tool to manipulate disk images, and love it. So simple to use! However, there are a large number of Geneve programs I'd like to use, and they're on WHTECH as ARK files. Is there a good way to extract these with a similar tool? I already know I can use TIIT to create a blank disk, move the ARK file there, run emulation, run Archiver, and un-ark the files, but is there a tool that will do this OUTSIDE of running an emulated session?

Opinions/Help Regarding My Quest To Build a PI99/4a
etownandy replied to MurdockScott's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
RetroPie uses the EmulationStation front end. It displays a system as an option only if there are ROMs/images available. In other words, if the roms/atari2600 directory is empty, then the Atari 2600 doesn't appear in the front end as an available system at all. -
In addition to games, Futura also had a line of business software. You can find advertisements in magazines of the time (like 99er).

Well, it would have saved me some time, but I feel REALLY stupid for not having thought about it in the first place. I had the actual hardware at one time, after all. I remember where the controller went!

Any leads on a loaded HD image for use with later builds of MESS? When the CHD format changed, my images no longer work (and they're mostly empty anyway).

Opinions/Help Regarding My Quest To Build a PI99/4a
etownandy replied to MurdockScott's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Regarding the use of an emulator on the Pi, this is an area that has my interest as well. It was suggested that advMess might be a path forward, but that it was an older build. I really like the new way of handling cartridges (single RPK files vs the multiple files of the past). Hopefully someone will provide some more info on what's possible and how we might get it working. RetroPie is great and I'm having a blast with it, but I'd love to get some 4A games going. I'm currently using a Rii i8 mini keyboard. I can definitely see me wanting to upgrade/replace that as it's far too small for anything remotely like touch typing (but it's fine for the odd command line visit). -
Turns out this is exactly the same problem I was having with emulating the Geneve - the HFDC wasn't in the last slot. Woot! Now I finally have THAT going too. What a great day. Thanks for all the help.

Well I'll be...it never occurred to me to consider how a REAL 4A would be configured. And sure enough, that worked like a charm. To be honest, I've never had any trouble with QMC and use it for MAME as well. I run several dozen different emulated systems with the MESS version. I'm not much for scripts, and Win99 crashes a lot (running on a Win10 VM). Thanks for the help! Now, if only they'd add 4A emulation to RetroPie...

I'm running qmc2-sdlmess (Qt v 4.8.7) on a Mac. I've been having a hard time getting disk software to load, and then I noticed...when I go to "Slot Options" to configure my virtual PE Box, there is no available disk controller listed. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? I can use the UI within MESS to load a disk image after emulation starts, but even then I just get I/O Error 00s from XB. Any thoughts or ideas? I have disk.bin in my BIOS zip file.

I found the TOD Editor online, but can't find the Adventure Editor. I stumbled on this year-old post. Anyone have a lead?
