  1. Yeah, I've not heard of that one. What color is it? I'd expect it to be the sort of grey/beige of the hexbus peripherals if it was meant with the CC40+. Can you post a photo?
  2. When you say "memory cards" do you mean 32K cards or RAM disks, or...? And any idea what kinds of disk controllers you have? Sorry to act like a vulture.
  3. On the fence, leaning towards yes, mostly because I'd love to play TI games in the living room. I kind of already can with ti99sim on my Pi, although changing disks is a bit of a pain (and the keyboard I use is one of those dinky Rii bluetooth jobs...ok for pressing the "any" key and then pressing "2", but horrible to actually type on). How mini can a mini be and still be useful? Roughly keyboard sized? But then I think gee, if we're going to do that, can we also include a halfway decent keyboard? And then it becomes something else entirely. I did get an actual 4A in box for a recent birthday (May) and I still haven't plugged THAT up. Slacker.
  4. I dunno if this would work, but Tandy 100 owners used to use orthodontic rubber bands to quiet their keyboards.
  5. Oh this is frustrating. I used a launcher to fire up Parsec. Its console provides me the command line it used to start the game. All of my attempts at running from a command line are based on command lines that work from the launcher. But of course, those are mostly all rpks, where the rules are different. Sounds like after replacing my ZIPs with RPKs, I need to go back to ZIPs, right? FWIW, I keep my ROMs folder separate from my software, because I have over 7000 ROMs and tens of thousands of pieces of software. I treat the ROMs folder as just a repository of BIOS and similar system ROMs. My ROM path is /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/roms My software path for the 4A is /Users/afrueh/mame/software/ti99_4a (then a subfolder by category, such as Games).
  6. Ahhhhhhhhhhh...OK. Well if I just drop the .zip from the command line, of course, I get a file not found. So I renamed the file, getting rid of the extension, and tried: /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/mame64 -nojoystick -mouse -ui_active -hashpath /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/hash -rompath /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/roms -samplepath /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/samples -output console ti99_4ev -cartridge /Users/afrueh/mame/software/ti99_4a/Games/Sewerman MAME still gives me an "invalid image" error.
  7. /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/mame64 -rompath /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/roms -output console ti99_4ev -ioport:peb:slot3 speech -ioport:peb:slot4 32kmem -ioport:peb:slot5 tirs232 -ioport:peb:slot8 bwg -cartridge /Users/afrueh/mame/software/ti99_4a/Games/Sewerman.zip Fatal error: Device TI-99 cartridge load failed: Invalid image Andys-iMac:~ afrueh$ However, the following works fine. /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/mame64 -rompath /Applications/Emus/mame0176-64bit/roms -output console ti99_4ev -ioport:peb:slot3 speech -ioport:peb:slot4 32kmem -ioport:peb:slot5 tirs232 -ioport:peb:slot8 bwg -cartridge /Users/afrueh/mame/software/ti99_4a/Games/bigfoot.rpk Ignore the folder name for mame...I just haven't renamed it in a while. The subject IS wrong, though...this is v 194 not 195.
  8. Here are the two Sewermania ROMs I'm trying. By way of comparison, I can get Bigfoot to work (including speech) just fine - so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. The ZIP gives me an "invalid image" error. The RPK runs up to entering my name, after which is freezes on a solid blue screen. Sewerman.zip mbx_sewermania.rpk bigfoot.rpk
  9. Just want to reiterate, I have dozens of cartridges that work just fine. I'm not doing anything different here...
  10. Was a ZIP supposed to be attached to that message? The ZIP on whtech gives me "invalid image."
  11. I was trying to play Sewermania earlier from the rpk file I found on WHTECH. I'm using SDLMame for Mac v.195. I get as far as entering my name. Once I hit ENTER, I get stuck on a plain blue screen and appear to be locked up. Is this a bad dump? Other MB/MBX-optional titles seem to work just fine (including BigFoot, one of my favorites). I'd really like to help Dave find the bomb.
  12. Damn...I was out of pocket at a funeral last week and missed out. I'm still interested.
  13. This helped me with my laptop (which also lacks scroll lock). You can remap it from the UI (I bet there's a command line parameter for it, too, but I didn't need to dig that deeply). http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=364049&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&vc=1
  14. VERY similar, but the one I used to have physically was brochure sized, whereas these are more like book-sized. I'll take it, though. Thanks!!
  15. *ping*. Anyone have a lead on a PDF for this brochure?
  16. Add me. I might just have to drag my actual iron out of the basement.
  17. Ugh...too many good ones for me to easily pick a "best" in the categories. And what, no category for Assembly Language disk games? Those are where the 4A really shines IMHO. Watch out, though, as opinions will be all over the place. There are just too many that are top notch (Rock Runner would get my vote there, probably followed by Living Tomb) Cartridge: I have to agree with Popeye as first choice and Donkey Kong second. The graphics are among the closest to the arcade that you'll ever see. But Tunnels of Doom had a pretty good 3D effect in the corridors. The character graphics depend largely on the ability of the adventure's author, so that's a bit hit-or-miss. XB: The "Wizard" games look great (Wizard's Doom, Wizard's Revenge, etc) as do Marble Madness and Quasimodo. The Don Grannos stuff is also great (Old Dark Caves, Legends, Legends 2) but they're helped by Assembly (is that "cheating?" If it's not, I'd move Carfax Abbey up in the list somewhere). BASIC: Morphy, Racing, Camelot
  18. I remember being a tad disillusioned when I realized it was Rock, Paper, Scissors. Excellent graphics, though. It convinced a few of the neighbor kids to get a 4A.
  19. Several months back, I posted a disk image that I THINK included all of the Moonbeam titles. They were very good for XB IIRC.
  20. I was looking through my pile of PDFs this weekend and realized I'm missing this brochure. It's a standard size (roughly #10 envelope) with Cosby on the cover that lists first and third party software for the 4A. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. I flipped through WHTECH and couldn't find a match.
  21. "Adult Adventure" was available for the Adventure cartridge. There's a disk floating around of all (or most) of the Scott Adams Adventures. I'm pretty sure a copy of that disk is on the TI Game Shelf website.
  22. Few additions... Audio Visual Demos.dsk
  23. Definitely interested. None of my "classic" portables have any kind of storage, although I've eyeballed drives for my Tandy 100. I'd LOVE to have something for my CC40.
  24. Great stuff! I'll put it together and post a new image after I've recovered a bit from abdominal surgery yesterday.
