  1. Heh heh...beware, this addiction leads you into other beat-related games. And it lasts awhile too. Anyway, this pad looks like a knockoff of one of the RedOctane pads. RO also sells their pads on Ebay, so I recommend finding one of theirs. Look for an Ignition 2.0 pad. Those are probably the best of their kind. Also, when you get tired of DDR, get a PSX-> Dreamcast adapter and use your new pad with Feet of Fury for the DC. (sorry, couldn't help but plug the game!)
  2. Just curious: did you ever see/read the original comics? They were much darker and these turtles actually look more like those. I kind of like the new cartoon. I've gone to the trouble to download 4 of the episodes, and they're not bad at all. Give it a chance, you old fart! (j/k)
  3. I played it for about 2 hours at my friend's house. I must say, it's quite good. I really enjoyed the first SSX, and this really feels like the first one, only better. More tricks, better looking overall (yes, the mountains look better, too), decent music (MXPX baby!) overall. There were only two things that I did NOT like about it: the first being the XBox's D-Pad. IT SUCKS for this game for some reason. I was 'pressing' directions that I wasn't pressing, therefore screwing up my sense of which trick I was about to do. Of course, that isn't the fault of the game itself, it's the fault of the controller. Maybe I'm just not used to using it in the "switch" style of playing that SSX3 has you doing. You are supposed to use the analog stick to steer and make adjustments, and then use the D-pad to to your tricks/start flips in the air/etc. 2nd thing I didn't like was the quality of the FMVs within the game. Hell, I don't know why they included them to begin with. They don't add much graphically that couldn't have already been done with the in-game engine. Oh well... Anyway, I'd give SSX3 a BIG HUGE two thumbs up. I like it.
  4. Because the actress, Gloria Foster, died shortly after filming her scenes for The Matrix Reloaded. I'd bet good money that the new actress will be playing that part if the Oracle appears in Revolutions. Yes, the new oracle is going to be in the next movie. At some point (in either the game or Revolutions) they will explain why the Oracle has changed in appearance. Seraph is still with her when this happens...
  5. HAH! While I may not agree with you, that was very funny LOL
  6. I realize, of course, that this is strictly opinion, but how can you say that the Dreamcast was the "crap of the 90s"? What about the virtual boy, the CD-i, the 32x? Do those not count? BTW, here's my list 70s: uh, I don't remember those two years... 80s: Coleco Adam 90s: This is a toughie, but I'm going with the Virtual Boy. 00s: Since we're not quite through with this decade yet, I'm going to preemptively call the PSX (the new thingamabobber, not the PSOne).
  7. I think there were only 2 DDR games for the Dreamcast in Japan. DDR2nd Mix, and then Club Mix. I've got 2nd Mix, but club mix was horrid. I'm pretty sure no other DDRs got released.
  8. We're always looking around for reliable artists at Cryptic Allusion. Check out our forums (http://www.cagames.com/phpBB2) and post some stuff under the general discussion topic.
  9. that's "HENSHIN a go-go baby". "Kenshin" is the character from Rurouni Kenshin (and so, the word can otherwise be defined as "a person's name"). "Henshin" by itself just means "Transformation". The verb form can also be conjugated "henge", and you'll hear that in a couple of animes where ninja are involved (and sometimes, magical girls). I think that it's a slang command form of the verb: "henkei suru", to change or turn into (something). Ah...now the language lesson is over. Remember your Japanese, boyz and girls!
  10. The logic there is a little off. Yes, the PS2 hardware may be dated now, but that doesn't mean anything. Consoles are very different beasts than PCs. I'm sure you know that, and I'm not trying to belittle your opinion, I just think your logic doesn't work I'd personally have a difficult time trying to decide on one between the three of them. If you get a PS2, get it because it's got a TON of games, and you might have some old PS1 games you still want to play. If you get an Xbox, (this is purely my opinion here) get it because you want to mod it to use it for other things. I put the Xbox Media Player on mine because the function to stream divx, xvid and many other video/audio files over my network to my TV is just a very sweet function. Not to mention there are a few games there that I just love that aren't on any other system. If you're going to get a Gamecube, you kind of have to get it for a specific game (or a few specific games). There are some EXCELLENT titles that have come out for the GC (F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, Viewtiful Joe), and there are more in the pipe, just waiting to fly off store shelves (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Mario Kart Double Dash). I've gotta say that I love my GameCube the most of the three systems (Wavebirds, WOO!), but my Xbox gets turned on more because of its functionality (due to modding of course...MAME-X and XBMP rule!). I know, that probably didn't help much, considering that I like them all, but hopefully you'll be able to form an opinion based on some of the info in this fact/opinion pool.
  11. Mostly used game stores, or local mom and pop stores is where you'll find the best deals on used DC stuff. If you don't find many there, check out your local pawn shops. People tend to sell this stuff to them, but don't ask me why. They usually stick it to the customers when it comes to games. Be sure to check for scratches on the discs no matter where you go (before you buy them, of course), b/c the DC's laser is a little more sensitive than your typical CD-ROM laser. At least, that seemed to be the case in the used game store I used to work in.
  12. Bought Viewtiful Joe today at Wal-mart (of all places). Considering that it was only $40, it's a WONDERFUL DEAL! This game is very fresh feeling. The voice actors are just cheesy enough for their roles, the action really doesn't get old, because there are puzzles strewn throughout the game. There's a level where you are inside an airship, and while you're in the main cabin, fighting your way through it, you end up getting a remote control for a platform (which basically acts as a magnet for the platform). You have to manuver it by using the Fast motion and slow motion triggers into ruts in the ceiling and the floor to keep it from getting crushed by the huge missile that fills the tube every 10 seconds. It's crazy...and yes, difficult. Even on easy! BUY IT NOW (if you haven't already).
  13. Don't forget Intelligent Cube. One of the first puzzle games for the PS, so it was a relatively small pressing, but it was SUCH an awesome game.
  14. I played AC NON-STOP for about 3 months...then I took a 9 month hiatus. I took my GC home with me for a couple of days this past weekend and brought AC with me. I must've cleaned up weeds for two hours total. That was a pain in the butt, but now it's done, so I can go back to playing normally. Make sure you stick around for Halloween night. That's fun
  15. Are you serious? They LOST your email from when they were doing pre-orders?? I'm very sorry that happened, but it makes me wonder if it's been happening to other people as well. In any case, thank you for ordering
  16. You're forgetting one important place. Technically, Akihabara is a part of Tokyo, so he didn't really forget about it It's just a district, like Shibuya or Machida. Remember, Tokyo is HUGEMONGOUS! (yes, HUGEmongous...)
  17. Heh heh. I talked you into it? You sure it was me? I had a couple of guys there with me that did most of the work. I was totally worn out at the show for some weird reason. Anyway, yeah, I'd say to avoid lan Kwei. NCSX tends to be a bit more expensive than everywhere else, but they are located in the US, so you should save some on shipping.
  18. I've heard very bad things about Lan Kwei. There is a partial thread on our forums over at Cryptic Allusion. Here's the link: http://www.cagames.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...er=asc&start=15 The discussion starts at the bottom of that page. It started out as a discussion about the GP32, so if anyone else wants to read about that, it's probably a good place to get some info (and some nice pictures of an RPG for the system). There are also some links for other import vendors in the same thread.
  19. I was told that the frontlight wasn't really necessary, because the screen is so much better at reflection than the original GBA was. Do you play your GP in a lot of dark alleys?
  20. Wait, which monstrosity are you referring to? The Japanese external HDD or the American internal? The American one is no monstrosity...it's almost a regular hdd. Only the connector is a little different.
  21. I think that the HD will use the PS2's expansion slot. At least I hope something is going to use it! Yes, it will use the expansion slot. The PS2 linux kit does that for the US versions of the PS2. I don't know anything about the HDD kit itself though, as I haven't read anything about it. I just know that the HDD will take up the expansion slot, so it won't actually make the PS2 larger, just heavier. The only HDD available that is external is for the 1st version of the Japanese PS2 (which did not have an internal expansion bay).
  22. Those multicade things are licensed? Man, I figured it was just a pirate looking to make a quick buck. Of course, it doesn't help my suspicions that I've only seen it in one arcade in the city.
  23. I've got to agree with that. I think the big N did a pretty good job with the GC...too bad that people are still thinking that it's not "good enough" compared to the other systems. Of course, I shouldn't be one to talk as I have all three of the new consoles, but there are reasons behind each one! I swear! Well except the GC...I've just had Nintendos for too long to NOT buy this one. On the subject of which systems I've gotten on release dates: The only one I can remember is the PS2, but I did get an N64 pretty close to release date, and I preordered a Japanese GBA (got it 2 days after release...very fast shipping from Lik-Sang when they were under the previous ownership). Of course, I only had F-Zero, but that game rules so much anyway that I didn't need anything else. I really didn't play any of my older GB games even though I could have. They just didn't compare to F-Zero.
  24. I think it's supposed to be out sometime at the end of september/beginning of october. I'll check with my Lik-Sang relay. I know that they will be carrying the Euro versions of the GP.
