  1. Odd? Nah - it's something I enjoy - I often do remakes, but generally either keep the private or open up to Joe Public for free. The Preppie! remake took less than a week to make from scratch. Sea Dragon will take somewhat longer due to the large map. It will also be another straight-up remake, although I'm tempted to add a mode which has enhanced features I don't plan on releasing any of these games for tablets or phones. I had agreement from Russ to make all his games available on the web, and that's about as far as my spare time allows anyway. As for Bristles - I loved that game as a kid. Unfortunately, the IP is owned by First Start Software who are particularly fast to drop Cease and Desist letters on your doorstep - not something I really want I did get permission from Mark Reid to remake Getaway! This did progress really well, but I hit a stumbling block and haven't returned to it yet. One day soon maybe Actually, the code for Sea Dragon lends itself well to Scramble type games so I might dig through my collection to see what turns up there //Andy
  2. Just double checked on the Atari - you had to push in the desired direction whilst hitting the joystick button. Sorry Level42, but sounds like your memory is as wobbly as mine sometimes //Andy
  3. Thanks! Next up is more of Russ's work - Sea Dragon Until you mentioned it, I'd never heard of Lords of Conquest! Would probably need to reverse engineer the logic in the game to make it even remotely similar - not an easy thing to do I'm afraid. Not sure what I'll tackle after Sea Dragon - maybe O'Riley's Mine or Diamonds. Any suggestions welcome //Andy
  4. The timer is actually the one thing I'm not totally happy with. I'll take a look at improving that soon. Thanks all for playing //Andy
  5. Ok, I think it should be fixed now. The sounds were all .wav files so I've converted to MP3 format. Seems to work OK in Internet Explorer. Thanks all for trying it out //Andy
  6. Ok, I've tried using IE 11 and I get the same. Don't know what the issue is so I'll have to dig around and get back to you. It does, however, work fine in Chrome and Firefox. //Andy
  7. That's pretty odd. I tend to use the Chrome browser and admit that I've not tested using IE. I'll try that out and see what I can do. //Andy
  8. Hi, Pretty new here although I've browsed the forums a fair bit in the past (such a lurker Anyway, this may seem somewhat sad, but back in the 80's, myself, my brother and my mum used to play our old Atari 600XL / 800XL to death. Of the many games we played, Preppie! was the one that stuck out as my mum's favourite. She still loves to play games, but can't wrap her head around emulators or other complicated things. So, as a little birthday/Christmas present I took to rewriting Preppie! as a browser based game. Having got the basics working I contacted the original author, Russ Wetmore. He kindly gave me permission to continue with the remake and within the span of about 4-5 days I'd written a fairly complete version. I don't know if anybody is interested in playing, but you can find it here: http://www.playmycode.com/play/game/krakatomato/preppie It's as close to the original as my spare time allows, but most importantly - my mum can play - was worth all the time and effort just to see her face light up! The source code is also available - just click on the "Code" button; below and to the right of the main play area. Don't expect anything amazing! Like I said, it was hacked up pretty quickly! Russ also gave permission for me to remake Preppie! 2 and Sea Dragon. The latter I'm about 50% through, although it's a slower process as there's a heck of a lot of tiles to create and the map is pretty damned huge! Have to say, hats off to Russ and all the other Atari programmers - how the heck they managed to fit so much into so little memory is beyond me Thanks all! //Andy
