  1. Of course I can always remove a couple of the more redundant Flashbacks, but I have at least two slots left in the middle of this cabinet I made for my Flashbacks. I look forward to having an NES Classic in there this year. I have to admit I don't like having to convert from HDMI to Composite to maintain compatibility with my existing setup and other units, but I understand the move toward this. MrBlackCat
  2. As I was looking at my Playstation TV (Vita Console basically) I was thinking the same thing... the PS TV has HDMI and can play many of the Vita games that aren't dependent on the touch screen... and it uses PS3 Controllers. Would make sense as the 3DS is plenty powerful enough to do this, and is already engineered/proven technology. If this is a modified existing technology, at least the hardware is very powerful compared to the Flashback hardware... of course what Nintendo does with that power, is yet to be seen. I would like to believe that if Nintendo is actually making this system, that it is a bit beyond the AtGames/Flashback/Sega systems as far as delivering a gaming experience. I will find out. I am anxious to see reports for when these get into the hands of reviewers. MrBlackCat
  3. I JUST need to know where to send my money... as soon as possible. This is really great. I just finished a shelf for many of the Flashbacks, and now this... a wonderful addition it will be. MrBlackCat
  4. Not really for me... my original reason was so my girlfriend and I could be on PS Home at the same time, or at least PS3 at the same time. After PS Home closed, she doesn't need her own PSN internet account anymore as she doesn't game on line. The third PSN on-line account was for her son, a few years ago. When he moved, he got another account at his dads. Now that he is moving back with us, he will still have his own. So really, mine aren't complicated. Only one is a Plus account also. MrBlackCat
  5. I am so glad I found this thread... Was considering a Vita for a while now, and will still get one later, but this is great for the price. I bought two of the Bundles and one of the core units at $30, $30, and $20. I have multiple accounts on PSN for different things, so I can associate each device with them. I already have many games that will play on the device that came with digital purchases since I've had my PS3. I just mean that many of the PS1 Classics, PSP Games, and PSN Minis will run on it. I ordered one 32GB card for the cardless unit, and the other two with their 8GB will be enough for the fewer games associated with those accounts. MrBlackCat
  6. Genesis Consoles, three I think, but possibly some variations I am not aware of, at least with full Cartridge Slot. If you count the Arcade Master system, which has the SD card slot but no cartridge slot, I suppose four. As far as the handheld type units, at least three, possibly more as I have seen variants in different packages. I have the Gopher (20), the Ultimate portable Player first version (80) and latest version with slightly larger screen (80), as well as the Master System version. I have seen other types without rechargeable batteries and/or SD Card Slots, but I don't know the differences or own all of those variants. MrBlackCat
  7. I didn't buy my 3DS for 3D, but end up using it far more than I thought... most of my 3DS gaming time has been spent with Super Mario 3D Land and Lego City Undercover. I use both of these with 3D on, more than not. MrBlackCat
  8. She thanks you... and it really was great, and very edible. Total time was somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. She is pretty quick as she makes many custom themed cakes like this. MrBlackCat
  9. Interesting line of discussion... the reaction to the financial inability to maintain a complete collection. I had that reaction years ago when collecting PC 3D First Person Shooters or "DooM-a-Likes", from the 90's. When I realized that collecting "all" PC First Person Shooters and their add-ons" impractical to me, I changed. I already had hundreds, and I am actually a gamer far more than a collector. I collect to play. The change I made was to alter the approach or scope of my collecting... to Boxed titles only. This was far easier than I had thought when I realized how silly being a completist really is to me. I suppose if that is the only aspect someone enjoyed, then it is... but in the end, it is just a choice. Unfortunate to hear of someone leaving the sport because they can't win... I don't have to win anymore, playing is enough. I am glad to hear there is so many new releases. MrBlackCat
  10. I pre-ordered a Revenant Statue... which comes with a free game from what I can tell. Not that I even have a PS4 yet, or anything else to run the new DooM, but I will eventually. I am sure I will enjoy the new DooM for what it is. I still play DooM every year or less on some system or handheld, or the rare LAN party on PC. We last played 4 player DooM II on GameBoy Advance actually... that was fun. I was going to say "I enjoyed and still enjoy DooM and DooM II", but it seemed not to convey my enjoyment of DooMs. So I will just post this image to avoid an understatement. This is the DooM PC section... And the cake my girlfriend made for me recently to celebrate the new DooM... Tomorrow is release... will be patiently awaiting my new Revenant statue. Probably Monday. 11. Ok! Correction made... to my spreadsheet only, because this site has a painfully short edit time allowance. I know what happened with this one. When I did the full list, I just deleted multiples after combining all titles. I was pretty sure Combat was never changed, and was going to verify it because I had different title listings, and never did. Because the other two titles were only associated with the other consoles, the listing didn't pick them up. <bleah> Understood, thanks. Thanks again... I did save your site at some point over the years relative to early Plug-n-Play systems. That must have been quite a few years ago you started your site. Well, I am sorry I can't correct my list on this site. If I had known I would be unable to correct it, I would not likely have posted it directly, and linked somewhere I could have edited or removed it as needed. Now I am part of perpetuating inaccurate information! <sigh> Thanks for the corrections, invitation and links to your site, onmode-ky. MrBlackCat
  12. I don't see the progression of these consoles any different than many other manufactured goods. I also don't believe they are improving the product with the goal of encouraging a person who owns Atari Flashback XX to buy a second console... I see it as just normal product improvement. While these improvements might cause some people who were "on the fence" about a purchase to go ahead, I doubt that is a very big factor. (I say this from the perspective of a computer network engineer, with involvement in manufacturing, and exposure to mass sales data) A real world example though... I work at a factory with hundreds of people, many of which are aware of my enjoyment/involvement of games/gaming. Every year, people come up and tell me about this "new" thing they saw, bought, or were thinking about buying... a Flashback, Retro Sega, or the Sega Handheld. The point being, FlashBacks are viewed as a new thing for first time purchase by the casual gaming majority, which explains the consistent yearly sales Mr. Loguidice has stated several times over the years. Kind of "if you already have one, you aren't the target customer." So as to a possible "Why?" When I produce something that sells, I make it better next year and keep selling it! Only crazy people actually purchase and pre-order every single version that is released... I would watch out for those for sure... like that MrBlackCat guy... just sayin' MrBlackCat
  13. I have a complete spreadsheet list of the FlashBack (1,2,3,4,64,6) games and which systems they reside, but was unsuccessful in applying a table structure in this editor. Well, this is painfully unformatted, but most here will be able to grab this and drop it into a spreadsheet for ease of reading. In the original spreadsheet, the right column is formatted Terminal to preserve columnar structure for ease of interpretation. Anyway... This list was made directly from the menus of my Atari Flashbacks, with the possible exception of the original Flashback. While making FlashBack games lists, I noticed inconsistencies between lists found on the internet, the box art, the manual itself, and what was actually included in the game menus, so after the first Flashback I made each list after receiving the units. Also, note that I don't have a FlashBack 2 Plus. I have the earlier model and a knockoff/counterfeit FlashBack 2, so I can't note any differences there. If anyone wishes to have original Spreadsheet data, just PM me and I will eMail you the file. Hope this is of use to some persons trying to grasp the Atari FlashBacks lineup of games. MrBlackCat
  14. I realize, this being more a retro/arcade site than anything else, the poll is mostly aimed at the maze games... I chose Ms. PacMan. Recently, I purchased the PacMan World console series for PS1, and PS2, and have enjoyed them. They aren't Grand Theft Auto meets PacMan or anything epic, but for standard platformers, they are great and do a good job of Pac-Theme integration into a 3D Platformer-Puzzle World. I would buy others if the series was continued. MrBlackCat
  15. My top PS1 Games aren't based on a wide variety, and they aren't even the best representative games of the PS1. These are just games I enjoyed them back in the day, and still play most of them yearly, sometimes to completion. This list is basically the amount of time spent with re-play frequency. Tenchu Duke Nukem: Time to Kill Tenchu 2 Metal Gear Solid Syphon Filter Medal of Honor Gran Turismo MrBlackCat
  16. In most instances the games are added to the previous, but a few are swapped out... like very few. I noticed that River Raid was only in the Flashback 2 for instance. Some people here know the included games changes by heart I am sure, but it is very few games that changed, so to answer your question, the vast majority are just overlap of games. Basically, AtGames is able to license more and more titles over time... or at least that is my perception based on what I have read. If I get time I will compare the differences and list them. MrBlackCat
  17. I must say that I find myself in this thread every day... just to make sure I haven't missed a post. So far, I have pre-ordered most of the Flashback units with total disregard to owning multiple instances of original hardware for Atari, Coleco, IntelliVision, and Sega consoles. Trying not to be hyped for the Mystery Atari Product, just in case it isn't something of interest to me. Either way, I will almost certainly pre-order the new versions of the other three units if they are similar to their predecessors. Don't want to break tradition. "I'll be back..." MrBlackCat
  18. Not publicly yet it seems. I have been keeping watch here as Bill Loguidice has been posting what he is able to in this thread... MrBlackCat
  19. I have the Arcade Cabinet version of the DreamGear model with 200 games. I watched a video of the Plug-N-Play versions menu, and from what I could see, it seems to be identical to the Cabinet version. I have a couple of others with almost identical controls, but they have superior graphics/game quality to the DreamGear device. The other two devices share the same games. The Menu Systems all differ in the different brands I have. Anyway, I hadn't noticed the new DreamGear "300" Game version... will likely get that one also unless they go up much on the price. Sure some of the games are pretty low quality, but my action figures don't seem to mind. Here are images of the ones I have. DreamGear Retro Machine (200), Lexibook: Arcade Console (230), and Multi-Cade by Sound Logic (230). MrBlackCat
  20. Hello chas10e... I use Low Self Discharge NiMh almost exclusively, as they typically never leak. These are numbered and tracked in a spreadsheet as to device and date of installation. A quick sort-by-date gives me any that are in need of swap. Some devices don't use physical switches that break the electrical connection, but have a timed, self-latching semiconductor gate (or equivalent) for on/off, and these will drain the batteries much more quickly, so these I don't keep batteries in. Otherwise, I keep a screwdriver in the drawer and always have plenty of charged NiMh batteries in the racks. When I do use Alkaline batteries, I use Energizer, but I have not noticed the no leak guarantee before. Thank you for the links. Interesting reads. MrBlackCat
  21. I agree with taking eBay prices with a grain of salt... One factor is trending of a particular item which in my opinion "artificially" drives an item price up but is temporary usually. For over ten years I tracked the prices of over 200 games (DOS FPS's mostly) on eBay and amazon. Over the years I refined my formula set to basically ignore the extremes and use only a median, which is based on total sales over time. It isn't at all just an average price calculation. There are many factors involved, but basically it is designed to ignore both the extremist on the high side, and the soccer mom selling stuff out of her kids room for nothing, and without research. As far as being stung, when I sold on eBay, I used almost exclusively Buy It Now listings. Either you want it, or you don't. Trying to capitalize on someones emotional reactions is gambling... which is fine for a hobby, but not for actually working on a profit. Anyway, thanks for your two cents... this is mine. /end of ramble MrBlackCat
  22. I have enjoyed following this topic, with SO much exhaustive effort being put into it. I really have nothing to add as my collecting is not comprehensive and that isn't my goal. I am more a gamer than collector as all my games are opened and played. I didn't want to start a new topic just for this, and didn't really see a place this fit. Because this thread is most likely followed/read by persons with larger collections, I wanted to share a rather simple setup I used to make my games all available for play while minimizing the wiring messiness. This is version 1.0 and I am very aware it can be improved, but this was/is my starting point. I might improve it when I start another cycle of construction in my game room. Hope this sparks some ideas for having access to all the games at once in larger collections while minimizing cord tangles. MrBlackCat
  23. Sometimes I struggle with supporting this line of consoles or not... when not struggling, I buy them each time a new model is released however. The struggle is with supporting a quite imperfect product, or supporting a product line that at least allows people to have a stroll through memories for nostalgia who do not require perfection to enjoy the experience. What are the challenges in making the emulation exact? I don't know that answer. It would seem this would be possible with modern technology and the fact the rights are legally acquired to produce these units... cost prohibitive perhaps. There doesn't seem to be any other option to support at this time, so I will stick with the Flashback stuff from AtGames, but if a company came along with a superior product, even at greater cost, I would certainly support them. I would really love to see the sales numbers on these units, and I hope they are successful enough to keep producing them, but it would seem they might be near being backed into a corner on what they can do as far as more games. Maybe they will try other hardware options if this is in fact the case. I live in the US, and locally, these devices are carried at several retail chains including Kroger grocery stores, Dollar General Stores, Family Dollar stores and a couple others I can't remember, but by Christmas, they were sold out at any store I went to, which was more than a dozen different locations. That is a good thing. One clerk commented "all those games sold out by Thanksgiving." Maybe the market for this type of device will be successful enough to bring forward a competitor that will produce a better product. MrBlackCat
  24. What specifically was wrong with Xevious before? I just played it for some time on this current "35th Year Edition" Pac Man unit, with nothing noticeably wrong. Unless it is something drastic, I might not notice though. If you can tell me what to look for, I will check for the issue, as mine is right here and in use. MrBlackCat
  25. I have a few of the fake ones also. The quickest way to tell is just to look at the label on the bottom of the console... look at the letter "R" in the word ATARI... if the "leg" of the letter "R" extends beyond the top part of the letter "R" (as pictured previously in this thread in several places) then it is fake. All of mine were fake except the very first one I bought... which was prior to the import of the Pirate versions. I appreciate the effort put into this thread in helping identify the Pirated FlashBacks. MrBackCat
