  1. Well, now that we know about the first problem is, let's hope it is the biggest one and guess quietly what the other 2599 might be...
  2. ... and having to shake off the other activists hugging the trees first ...
  3. Seriously, making them suffer like that? I can already hear the animal rights activists outside...
  4. 6mb theoretically, only seen on skunk. Standard carts are 2 or 4 mb.
  5. I have emailed you about the AMR before, this is even better!
  6. Success! I managed to hack in a pin from a destroyed Lynx flex connector (the Lynx is fine too ). Fixed it in place using Pattex Repair glue. It's not a place where soldering is to be successful so I knited around using a wrapping wire - and it lights up like a charm! Operation postponed, for now.
  7. Yep, I thought of that too... Talked to father about it, but he wasn't too enthustiastic about it - the price/preformance of the Poweboost is hard to beat at these volumes...
  8. Wow. This is really something else!
  9. It might be the cartridges... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/103198-bloody-red-screen-of-death/ But cleaning the contacts would be my starting point.
  10. Thank you! I have, meanwhile, managed to get to the sucker that seems to be causing the problems - it broke off cleanly. So I'm hoping to be able to rebuild that, otherwise I'll have to put that tutorial to use...
  11. I ve got these for the Mega ST. They seem to be the same size?
  12. http://reboot.atari.org/new-reboot/omfreplace.htmlis gone, and hardly any pictures can be found on the wayback machine... Too bad, I really need this. One of my Jags was twitchy since I got it. I have located the offfending pin, but all my attempts to staighten it have made it disappear into the innards of the connector... Dremmel time, I'm afraid...
  13. Well, I have three of them... It hould also be a simple thing (as you can see form a schematics above). Maybe if we just get the resistor values correct, people can make their own.
  14. Splendid! Meanwhile I talked to my old man - he is prepared to do the design and prepere the pcb with simple on-off logic. Would you be interested in that? I should probably start a poll or sometning to see how many of us would need this, so we can have it made in a single run...
  15. Correct. 9V is a silent killer, like high blood pressure. It's fine - until it isn't. If I ever get my father to actually produce the circuit for on/off, I can make a small run of them for those interested...
  16. OH! Now I see it! I don't have EN connected, I just ground it when I want to disable the Powerboost. I don't think you should be connecting it to battery voltage That's: EN --- GND = OFF EN --- NC = ON
  17. Hmm, 2 Amps should be ok. It also happens to me sometimes, although much, much less frequently...
  18. Post a hi-res pic of the board? Maybe it gives someone an idea...
  19. Wait till the cold war passes... Those intercontinental missiles will be a dozen a dime.
  20. There could be a number of things wrong with your Lynx. Since you ruled out the flex and contacts, there must be something less trivial wrong with it. The schematics for the power section can be found here. From here you see that pressing the off button uses a phalanx of components, since the "latch effect" is not trivial at all. Capacitors are old enough to be replaced as a preventive measure if you haven't done that alreadyy. I've seen the power section explained here, and as a software engineer I can say that it's complicated and I will not be bothered with it Seriously though, I'm scared to death of the 9V using the same rail as the downstepped 5V, so I converted two out of my three Lyxes to USB using Powerboost and a li-po battery. Third is sitting on the desk waiting for the soldering iron to heat up. I'm still hopeful that I'll be able to persuade my father (who is a hardware engineer) to help me design a replacement for all the parts used which woud handle the on/off buttons too, but that's a summer project...
  21. Wow. Firing up the soldering iron now. That mouse adaptor has waited long enough.
  22. steve-vx: I think CJ does what he feels is worth doing - so no need for polls. It just so happens that many people like what he does... There are even those who DON'T like what he does (I suspect due to them being incapable of doing anything in the vicinity of what he does). I don't want them near any polls. Stuffing people into caves and bouldering the exit is just an easter reference (as would be nailing them to a cross which they had to carry up the hill beforehand ). Don't take it too seriously
  23. I'm dying to play some CD games if that feature comes through... Never got to buy one, never will, the way the prices are going...
